Can I get some feedback!(please)

Well, almonds are a great healthy fat but those calories WILL add up if you eat too many. I used to try to substitute salted peanuts for my salty potato chip cravings, but I found once I started I couldn't stop! So I'd end up eating waaaay too many peanuts and feeling really guilty. I had to cut them out, too dangerous for me. I find the best way to deal with something I just can't stop eating (once I start) is to cut it out of my diet entirely. I don't have a problem with almonds though--but I get the raw ones, the roasted/salted ones would probably cause me problems, are those the ones you're eating too many of?

When were you able to start eating almonds?

Too many as in how many? The whole bag? More than you want to at one sitting? I mean... what kind of feedback are you looking for?

Are almonds going to cause you to gain? Probably not. But the salt and fat probably don't help your caloric bottom line. if you're using them for a snack measure them out in baggies and only have the baggie with you. Don't eat out of the bag, it may as well be bottomless.

We can't come take it away from you so set yourself up for success and find a way to put them away.

I had to stop nuts altogether because an ounce turned into four ounces easily. If I had them portioned out, I would go grab more portions. It was the same way with Protein based crunchy Snacks - I would just go get another bag. sugar free Jello is my go-to now when I get hungry between meals.

I keep almonds in my kitchen safe. I have the safe set to unlock in the morning (when I am less likely to have cravings). When the safe opens in the morning, I take the almonds out, portion out maybe a half ounce, then put the remaining almonds back in the safe and lock it again until the next morning. I don't usually actually eat the nuts I portioned out until the evening though. That's the only way I can have nuts in the house.

It's that time of year so get all the nuts you want and feed them to the Squirrels, that way when your little baggy is empty you get the great sensation your tummy if full of nuts!! ....Out of site - out of mind!! :D

Well, you can trade Protein for carbs, although Almonds have alot of carbs but also alot of protein....Caramel Rice Cakes are really good..but again..only 1 grm Protein and 21 grms carbs......crunchy and good..but nutrition wise..hmmmm

Guess it depends on how many of them will satisfy your crunch crave. B)

I agree. If there's a snack I get fixated on, I tend to give it up for a while. Find a new favorite.

@@iamblessed1225 I like roasted seaweed as a snack. Very low calorie. I also like making turkey pepperoni crisps:

microwave version:

I find the microwave version works best if you line the plate with parchment paper. You can also make cheese crisps (watch the calories on those though!):

I am like that with cashews. I love them but I am afraid to bring them in the house. How about eating a cheese stick first and then the portion of almonds.

My go to crunch is Protein chips that I order from the weight loss center. Gives me the crunch and 10 g of protein can't complain!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
