Bathroom trouble......."TMI".....

Recommended Posts

So....I have found myself severely constipated.....ended up this morning in the ER, they were not much help. I took an enema this morning, it did nothing, went to er the give me a soap and Water enema, nothing but liquid......I can feel there is stuff in there that needs to come out, my legs are weak from the pain. The hospital gave m a shot of Valium to calm me, but that didn't so much either. I stopped at the store and bought prune juice, heated it up and put Mirlax in it.....so far nothing.....I'm afraid I'm going to end up back in the ER.....any suggestions?

Also glycerin suppositories may help.

Soaking in very warm baths tummy side down can be awkward but may help, also light heating pad in that area then just relax. Take a pillow in the bathroom with you and hug it against your tummy gently while you try and go.

I went through this right before my surgery and a few days ago. I didn't go to ER though. Try magnesium citrate. I drank about a 1/2 bottle and used a fleets...it helped me.

Not sure this will help but when I had a colonoscopy several years ago they give you an OTC product called Colyte - which you can mix with root beer and take small doses once every hour or so. This cleans out the intestine, colon, etc so they can see clearly.

Just a thought!

Magnesium Citrate will work for sure but you can become dependent on it. So take a little now and use the Miralax once you start going again.

@@Heidi Anderson I was under the impression that after surgery, don't drink any carbonated liquids...I could be wrong.

Yes, you are right! I mixed it for the colonoscopy. You will need to mix it with something as it tastes really bad but does the trick! :)

1) Smooth Mooves Tea from Target.

2) Ballerina Tea from a local corner store hair shop (it's in a green box).

3) Castor Oil (take orally).

4) Magnesium Citrate

5) Coffe enema (Google instructions for it)

If you need instant help, get yourself an enema/douche bag, fill it with warm Water and use it to go. Sometimes those individual enema from the store don't have enough liquid to be effective. If you have your own bag you can use it whenever you have a problem and you don't have to worry about the cramps that the laxatives give you. Also, you don't have to worry about the drugs kicking in at the wrong time.

Magnesium Citrate is what doctors order as bowel prep for colonoscopies. It will flush you out very quickly.....you need to be prepared to spend several hours coming and going from the toilet. It won't be a good day to share the bathroom and I recommend a can of air freshener so that you can stand to be around yourself. You can get magnesium citrate over the counter but may have to ask the pharmacist for it.

After that, you could take stool softeners or magnesium tablets on a daily basis. I have also used the Smooth Move Tea at bedtime and am ready to go to the bathroom the next morning. I get the chocolate flavor and steep it in hot chocolate at bedtime.

Also, I keep prune juice on hand at all times. An apple near bedtime will help.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
