Which food tracking app are you using?

Recommended Posts

Good Morning!

I have downloaded several food tracking apps but haven't found one that fits my needs quite yet. What I am looking for is one similar to the weight watcher one that has an extensive food database & caloric/protein calculations etc. Just curious as to what you are using.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations

Have a great day!

I use My Fitness Pal. You can customize the daily requirements to meet your needs, and I have not yet found a food the is not listed in its data base. You can also track your activities, and synch it with several digital tracking systems. I use it every day. I find it much easier to use than the weight watchers app I used in the past.

I also use myfitnesspal.com. It is free. It works well with a lot of other apps. It remembers your favorites. It's easy to link up with friends and family if you wish to do so.

I use endomondo to track my walks and the results are on myfitnesspal by the time I log in after the walk.

Three plus years of using My Fitness Pal and still going strong. I'd be lost without it. Regardless of the app that you use, next to the surgery itself, I believe that maintaining a food log is the single most powerful tool that you can have in your arsenal. It can be tedious and frustrating. But once you get in the habit, it becomes second nature. I know of no other option that even comes close to the control and confidence a food log gives you. You're gonna love the new you!

I downloaded an app from iTunes called ProteinTracker. It costs about 4.00 but it lets you set the Protein goal and then also provides you with fat/carb percentages. Ever since I downloaded it, I've been able to hit my protein goal. I tried the FitnessPal since it was free but I wanted something more straightforward since protein is a prime focus. Don't mind paying a small fee if it keeps me where I need to be.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
