Hi All,

I'm new here, actually I've been reading alot the past few months and have finally decided to have the procedure. I'm so excited and wanted to thank you all because I have learned alot from all of you. I am two days pre-op diet and finding it very hard. I am trying to maintain a positive attitude, but let's face it I am addicted to food. I am not a lover of cottage cheese and it actually made me throw up this morning. I'm just going to have to stick to yogurt from now on.

Anyways I just wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to talking to you all soon. ;)

Rosiejan... :welcome:

I was creaping around this site for a few months before I finally made an appointment for my consult at the TLBC.

This site was a life saver for me, all my questions were answered by ppl who knew what I waS going through and what I was feeling.

You can do it Rosiejan! We all have gone through some preop diet or another and although it is not easy it is very important to your surgeon's ability to give you a safe and effective operation. Stick to it - think about your health and you will be fine!

Good luck!

Rosiejan,

Welcome... I feel your pain about the cottage cheese... hated it tooo, but I put a tiny spoonful of no sugar added jam in it and it was slightly more palatable. (I know - jam is not on the menu but I figured if I could have yogurt with fruit... I also thought that having a bit of no-sugar jam is a heckuva lot better than pigging out on a steak!!!)

Hey I too didnt like cottage cheee, so what I did was I stuck to the yogurt. I would mix it in a blender with ice, milk, maybe some instant coffee and make smoothies. That is the only way I survived the 2 week diet-LOLOL keep your head up .. you can do!!! Your doign great already

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
