November Banders

Recommended Posts

Doing well over here. I had my first fill yesterday (3 cc's in the 10 cc LapBand). So far, so good! I've been on soft foods, and will be for a couple more days per dr's orders.

I started to gain weight recently so the fill was well timed. My next appt is Jan 16. I'll see how I feel closer to then to make sure I still need it (I'm assuming I will, since most people seem to take a few months to get things right).

My holidays have been/will be fairly low key. My biggest concern is to avoid a "stuck" episode by trying to remember to eat slow and chew well!

Glad to hear others are doing well too.

Hello, I thought I write an update. I am doing really good lost a total of 26.5 pounds pre/post op. Have not had a fill yet won't happen until sometime in January. So I am really trying to make sure that I can either stay at the same weight or continue to lose weight. Started working, not a hard workout but walking and riding my stationary bike at least four times a week while I watch the biggest loser.

About 3 weeks after the surgery I felt a lump in my breast, called the doctor immediately and got an appointment. Yesterday I went for the mammogram and a sonogram and the doctor was a little concerned on what he saw, so he decided to do a biopsy right away. I go back today to find out the results trying not to worry until I need to worry. Glad I will no one way or another today. The funny thing is I wanted to come home and eat my comfort food which is spaghetti but Instead I came home and had a Protein drink. ????

My mom had a similar situation a couple of months ago and the mass was benign. Sending up prayers for you.

Well it has been a long day. The news is not good. I have breast cancer. I am still a little surprised of course, most people are. I don't want to freak myself out, I will take one visit at a time. The breast center is really good. They are moving so fast with this. I already have an appointment with the surgeon with the oncologist and an MRI. All of these appointments are before the new year. The support from the people at the Center was great. As you can imagine most of the information that they are telling you is not making a lot of sense.

I was scheduled for my first fill 1/5, not sure about that at this point. I am going to call my doctor on Friday or Monday. I know this sounds crazy but I did so much to get to this point with my lap ban, what now. Am I in denial about the cancer why am I focused on the lap band at this point I think I still don't believe it.

My husband, son and Mom are really having a hard time. I keep telling them I will be ok. I will be a survivor with the pink shirt I'm going to be okay. One appointment at a time.

Sending prayers. My mom had breast cancer a few years back. I went to all appointments with her. She did so well , little problems and a great outcome.

Happy new year's, everyone! Wishing each of you health, happiness, and blessings this new year. We are all on a journey this next year, even if that journey doesn't quite look the way we planned, or takes a Detour or two. Hope everyone is well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
