3+ years post-op, at lowest weight since 4th grade :-)

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am 3 years+ post op VSG. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have never felt like I liked myself more. I feel in control of my weight and what I eat. I started my weight loss adventure at 262 pounds in 2011. Today I weigh 167 pounds. I had my ups and downs (I briefly gained 15 pounds during the 2nd year and lost them all plus a few, and I was anemic for a few months as well. I eat normally and I have no issues with food intolerances, loose skin, or nausea. Please feel free to ask me any questions!! I love this site, it has helped keep me motivated and focused. I will continue to check in as much as I can! I attached a before and a couple afters of course!

@FishingNurse. Yeah, congrats. It looks good on you. You look healthy and happy. I've been at the exact same weight for 3 1/2 weeks. Don't know what the heck is wrong. I heard about stalls, but for this long is so demoralizing. I don't even want to eat anymore. Can you tell me about some of your stalls, if you had any and if you remember them? Thanks.

The stalls are the worst ! They happen a ton in the first 9 months but you will keep losing. Trust me! I was in tears after 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and on and on. But I made my goal (under 170 pounds) with ease. Yes, ease! Losing it was easy with my sleeve, maintaining is harder but doable! Just keep following your plan! Don't get discouraged.

Why did you choose a goal of 170? I'm just curious, because we have the same stats and the same body type.

I really had a modest goal. To me, being "thin" wasn't important, it was about liking myself, feeling comfortable. My surgeon recommended the sleeve cause the weight loss is more modest, and that's what I wanted. It's easier to maintain. I didn't want to look deflated. I would have gotten the bypass if I wanted to weigh 130... Which wasn't important to me. I was scared of regain too which is why having a modest goal was a good plan for me! Hope that makes sense.

It makes TOTAL sense. I'm afraid that I have an unattainable goal of 145, even though it's at the top end of my healthy weight range. I have never weighed that much. I think I might reevaluate my goal. Thank you =)

How tall are you? I have reached my goal of 170 also & am 5'7". I think I might want to lose 10-15 more but just so I can have some wiggle room. I can wear an 8-10 & really don't want to look too thin. I'm 42 & don't want to look old either! Thanks

How exciting for you, 6 weeks is when you are starting to feel "normal" again. Good luck to you!

I am 2 weeks out, and was thrilled to see your post! I really can't wait to get to where you are. When you say "stick to plan" can I ask what a typical day of eating might b for you? Do you still have to obsess about Fluid intake?

Thanks, Leslie

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
