Sunnyskies2283 23 Posted October 19, 2014 Has anyone been on protonix post surgery and had a difficult time coming off from it? I'm just over 3 months and have felt great in those 3 months but my prescription expired and attempted a go without it. My stomach was quite uncomfortable pretty much the next day. I did call the surgeon and got refills but this has me worried. Am I always going to need it? When did you go off of it?

Krystal0528 118 Posted October 19, 2014 Protonix? What is it for? I'm assuming heartburn... I had a hiatal repair same time as sleeve an I never had heart burn a day in my life until surgery. I told my dr about I an he told me to take Zantac. It does work but not all day an take a while to kick in. I mean I could get heartburn from just drink in water!! Sunnyskies2283 23 Posted October 20, 2014 It's for acid in your stomach which is apparently a common problem for people after surgery. I've never had such problems before. Apparently it's all under control with protonix but miserable without. Maybe I'll just stop it and see if it gets better if i tough it out
