Recommended Posts

I just got approval from insurance 10-17 so surgery sometime in November!!! Well going through my drawers and getting out all the summer and putting in the winter I had a hard time parting ways with a lot...did anyone one else? Should I keep it or just get rid of it? I still in the back of my mind is unsure if the surgery will work....what did you all do?

Hi I am 5 months post opt tomorrow and I have held onto all of my clothes I wear them to work and I am drowning in them , I just wear a tighter belt until I buy new clothes, I dont want a lot of clothes with different sizes so I am holding on to everything until next year when I am 1 year post opt then I am treating myself to a new clothes but I did purchase some shirts since I went from a 3 x to a large shirt. and two pairs of skinny jeggings.

Did u have ur surgery?

I just had surgery 10 days ago. I'm down 13 lbs. But that does not justify getting rid of my summer clothes. :)

I feel really good and I'll be ready to go back to work next week. I think I would be saying the same even if I worked retail.

Good luck!

I had the same though - I am scheduled in Nov too and thought about tossing my summer clothes. But since I really don't know how much I will lose or how fast, I think I will hold onto them until I KNOW they are too big, and then it will be even more fun bagging them up for Goodwill!

I did not remove my clothes until they were too big. I am glad I did it in these stages. For my own enjoyment I would try on every piece then place in a To go clothes basket. At first the amount of clothes leaving was overwhelming and I had a hard time. Could be it was about all my clothes gone. After working 7 years to make this professional closet full of clothes.

I have since did this two more times.

The last times weren't as hard because clothes were from goodwill and yard sales. Plus in and out of them too fast for attachments.

I have went from a size 30/28 to a 16/18. In 10 months down 125 pounds.

I wear a lot if skirts now can keep them longer.

I would keep them just for you can see the changes happen...

I believe you will. I think we are so programed to failing on diets, we have a hard time believing this time it will work!

It does work. Stay strong. At first I kept thinking what if? What if in a month or next year I need these clothes back? My family finally had to encourage me and help me see this part of my life was over and to let it go and give the clothes away.

Good luck!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
