I think I may be a little too tight, so wanted opinions. I do have an appointment Monday morning for a small unfill if I decide I need one.

Ever since I got this last fill, I've had trouble at least once a day eating. Today, I had my usual South Beach Protein Bar for Breakfast, ate it very slowly, but still PB'ed. I then tried a couple of bites of the filling of an enchilada, two bites and I was stuck. tuna had gotten stuck, along with things I think I should be able to eat. I'm also gurgeling a lot, it get embarrasing. Now, I can always get liquids down, but I'm not comfortable eating most of time, sliming and PB or at the least just 3 or 4 bites, and I start feeling uncomfortable.

it may be too soon to know if you are too tight. can you try Soups for a couple days incase you are swollen and then try solid foods then? that has been my experience - i too have the vg band and some days i pb everything but a day or two later i can eat just fine - if i remember to take itty bitty bites that is.

How long has it been since your last fill, and do you do liquids for a day after a stuck or PBing episode? If its been over a week and you are having that many issues it seems like a tiny unfill would fix it up.

I went in today for a small unfill.

And yep, I was too tight. I figured that out after ending up in the ER yesterday morning. I thought I was having a heart attack. Pain and pressure in my chest, clammy, nauseous, pain in my jaw and my back. I did a stress echo test, it came back just fine, so we think I had an esophegial spasm, probably triggered by being too tight.

It's nice to be able to eat and drink again today.

Lisah, it sounds like you may need a slight unfill. I was having the same issue especially with solids and he took out .2 ccs and I can hold down solids fine now.

Hey there,

I have a question....I am also back at 1 1/2 yrs out. lost 45lbs, had major back surgery in January so 6 months of no or little exercise. Thank goodnes for the band. I had a weird problem. I think I need to have a little taken out of the band but I am scared. If I eat three hours before bed and it is not practically liquid, I wake up choking, not sick though, for I can get Water down easy. I try real hard not to do that.I am now really aware of what I am eating, definatly Protein. I cannot eat in the early morn so I have a warm Protein Drink, the warmth seems to open the band. If I have some removed I am worried that I will be able to get too much in. I finally got filled to what I felt was the right amount. I just hate choking and figure it is really a must to pay attention and not eat meat that is not ground, or anything too heavy at dinner. I have stayed at this weight, otherwise without the band and a surgery( had 7 knee replacement revision in 5 years) why I gained so much, I would surely have gained again. I have not read of anyone being maybe overfilled and choking and or coughing during the night.....

Anyone hear??? Info would be great.

Debra

You do need an unfill. If you can't get real food down at all you need an unfill. Trust me, don't wait until you are dehydrated, Vitamin deficient and sick as a dog like I did. I ended up with IV's. As much as I hate to get unfills it is waaaay safer also. Too tight can cause a slip. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
