vsgcrystalg 21 Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) Hello, I am scheduled for next month and was just wondering how long it took to be ok to go back. I am a teacher and am looking to have the surgery done right before Thanksgiving break. I am giving myself about 12 days before I need to return to work. I have had 2 c-sections and was good after maybe a week. I would like to see how everyone else did on their recovery time. Thanks for all your input and advice! _2juicy_ 13 Posted October 18, 2014 I took off exactly two weeks, and honestly I was pain free around day 4 - 5. I did have low energy though, so it was nice to be home focusing on my Water intake which is a full time job in itself. When I did go back to work, the hardest part was and still is my commute. The hustle and bustle of the NYC commute is just exhausting for me, but that's the worst part.
Larly109 19 Posted October 18, 2014 You will probably feel ok to return to work, but be prepared to tire easily - especially as a teacher. I don't know what grade you teach, but you will very likely feel exhausted by the end of the day. I know when I taught 2nd grade I'd get tired on a normal day. My job is much less physically demanding now and I'm still pretty tired at the end of the day. It's getting better as I heal, can eat a bit more, and drop more weight but it takes time. I don't want to discourage you, just want you to be prepared. Best of luck with your surgery!
cornhusker 115 Posted October 18, 2014 I had my surgery a week ago last Wednesday. Had very little pain, but some fatigue. Went back to work the following Monday and all was good. I think it really depends on how YOU heal and feel following surgery. I had a friend that had the surgery last year and took off 3 weeks. So far though I feel better than I have felt in years...no kidding. I definitely felt better physically going back to work last Monday than I generally felt every day I went to work prior to surgery. Suzamundo 51 Posted October 18, 2014 I had surgery Monday afternoon and was back to work Friday feeling fine. I don't have a super physical job, but I walked around all day with no problem. I carry a kit of 100 calorie Protein Shakes and zero Water around with me all day.:-)

vsgcrystalg 21 Posted October 19, 2014 Hello everyone..thank you for taking the time to respond. I am giving myself 12 days total. My surgeon only does surgeries on Mondays and Wednesdays so I will be taking Wednesday through Friday off from work and then it will transition into Thanksgiving vacation. I teach high school so I do very little lifting. I am hoping that will be enough time to heal and be good to go. I think I heal pretty well so I am hoping that will help me with this. When I had my first c section I was up and walking the same day.
