I started my program over 300 lbs.

Highest weight ever: 335

Start weight: 312

Weight on the day of the surgery: 294

Sleeved on 5/5/14

Current weight: 226

I'm dealing with the monthly 3 to 5 lb weight gain from my period right now. Bloating can suck it. But I hope to be below 200 by the end of the year.

My starting weight (also my highest ever) was 380.5. As of this morning, I'm 353.5 but I haven't been sleeved yet. I've lost 28lbs on my pre-op diet. My doctor is requiring a 38lb loss so I've got 10 to go but it's coming off quick.

I'm being sleeved on 11/4.

How tall are you ? I'm 5'6" around 370. Go the 24th for my first appointment with surgeon.

I'm 5'6" as well. I was honestly shocked I was so heavy. I thought I was still around 350. That's what avoiding the scale will do for ya... Lol

Oh I know what you mean. Lol.. I don't have any scales right now. So I'm going off of the last time at Dr. Sounds like you are doing good. Good luck. Let me know how surgery goes.

well i think i have the highest of the females....not that it's a competition...I WIN!

just kidding....it is kind of hard to imagine that my goal weight is some people's starting weight

the last time i weighed 300 i was 23 years old...20 years later and 150 pounds heavier and in dire need of knee replacement and back surgery...but not until i drop some pounds.

anyway, you are not alone...we are all here to lift each other up and be that voice in the wilderness when you just can't see yourself getting to where you need/want to be....

hang in there everyone and yeah us for moving towards a healthier us!

Started at 381. Now I fluctuate between 170 ans 180. I can handle that. LOL

It is a journey well worth taking! I confess I like the new clothes and always dress the 9's. A perk I deserve....really! hehehehehe

I have a question that may get me in trouble. Does anyone else find it incredibly irritating that people that only need to lose 40 or 50 pounds are having this procedure? I mean, I wish I only had 40 pounds to lose and I don't think I would consider surgery if I did. I would try something else, first. Just my opinion and I mean no disrespect to anyone.

hi Ch14,

I weighed 347 at my initial consultation on January 29th. I weighed 311 on the day of my surgery, August 4th. I weigh 280 today. My weight was coming off rather quickly after my surgery, but unfortunately I developed an acute mesenteric venous thrombosis (mesenteric vein blood clot) that subsequently slowed my weight loss. Now that I'm out of the hospital from the blood clot, I eat organic, clean, whole foods, no red meat, and get 65-80 g Protein daily. While my weight isn't coming off as quickly as it was immediately after surgery, I AM still losing. My health care team has assured me that my weight loss is great considering all I've been through. But please don't let my surgical complication scare you. I would undergo this surgery again in a heartbeat, and let's keep in mind that every surgical procedure carries the risk of clotting. Even though I'll have to take Coumadin, be on a special Vitamin K-restricted diet for the next six months, and require another CT scan with contrast to determine the state of the blood clot, I'm healthier (and thinner!) now than I have been in many, many years. Best of luck to you, and keep your eye on the brass ring. Your journey has no expiration date, so your determination and will power shouldn't, either. Take care and keep me posted on your progress. You can do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
