Trying to be patient!

Recommended Posts

So I had my last clearance appointment a week ago. Called the surgeon's office and spoke with the coordinator and apparently they are still missing my gastro/endoscopy report, my psych clearance, and my letter from my primary. She was putting in calls to get them, hopefully they will be quick about it! Other than the letter, which I called and requested weeks ago, the other 2 reports were the last 2 that I just had, so I am trying to be patient but it is so HARD! She said as soon as they get them, I will get a call to set up my date! Fingers crossed!!

It will happen and then the real work will begin! Be patient and take this time to learn all you can about WLS and what you will need to do to be successful okay! :)

@RJ'S/beginning I am definitely researching stuff! I lurk and read a LOT here and have read over my packets from the NUT several times. Originally my EGD was scheduled for November 19th, but they had a cancellation and I got in on 10/8, so I know I should just be grateful I am at this point. I am just looking forward to starting my new life!

Seems to me that you have a great attitude. I am so happy for you that you want so much to do this. I too was biting at the bit for this new life and worked hard to get here. It is not an easy road for anyone. There is a lot to deal with and things to fix. But the reward is wonderful. I love the new me most of the time. There are times when the old me rears its ugly head. It will always be there. It will always be a fight to keep going. But well worth the fight. Attitude is 1/2 the battle. The work the other half.

I am addicted to food. When you can say that it will bring a relief that you can now fix it or at least keep it at bay. Good for you to want this so bad. Means you are serious and will go forward.... :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
