not sure where to post this- husband absolutely does not support wls

You might look into lapBand with pLication or "I band" as some places call it. It's one of the safest and most effective surgery options. I had it done in late August of 2014. You have to take care of yourself.

Hi, Thanks for your response. My surgeon does not recommend these procedures for me. All the best to you.

From reading your posts, it looks like your husband is afraid of the surgery, and afraid of losing you. besides reassuring him, I think taking him to a support group would allow him to see how many people have successfully gone through the surgery. He might hear stories about how bad their lives were before losing weight. Perhaps you can show or tell him reasons the weight is so bad for you, and how it could be much more dangerous than the surgery ever would be. My husband says he supports me. I attended the first seminar, and see the surgeon on Nov. 5th. Then I will find out what tests and procedures I need prior to surgery. My husband recently started buying me candy bars. Hmm. Think he is feeling insecure. I made a list of physical reasons I want to lose weight and posted them on the fridge. None of them had to do with how I will look, or being able to wear cuter clothes. I had to think about what I will be able to do, and how i will feel. He reads that every time he goes into the refrigerator, and I think it reassures him a little. I know he will feel insecure when I lose weight, but I plan to talk to him about how much better I feel and talk about how I can go for walks with grandchildren, take them to the park, etc. I can barely walk now, and need major spinal surgery. I can't have it unless I lose at least 100 lbs, so I am VERY motivated. I really do hope your husband comes around.

I hate to be blunt in this situation.....but.. This isn't about him it's about you and your health. You must put yourself first or you will die. He can either get on board or he can lose you because of health problems caused by being obese. My husband wasn't on board and still isn't on board. But if I hadn't put myself first I was headed for certain death before I hit 40 years old. I hope for your sake he comes around. Insecurity is an ugly thing and I hope he doesn't lose you because he can't put you and your health first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
