So I'm 4 days post op and feeling great. I've been walking which is helping with the gas pains but I still can't drink anything but Water. I noticed yesterday my stomach started making this gargling sounds, I'm not hungry so I'm assuming it's gas. My surgeon says he didn't put a fill but my band feels tight. It's weird because when im taking sips and boy do I mean tiny little sips ( I want to gulp the whole cup, so thirsty) a few sips later I notice soft signs everyone talks about like runny nose or burping. Is that normal with only drinking water? Also when I'm walking I get this weird feeling right under my sternum almost like heartburn and it goes up my throat but there's nothing that comes out, no burp no vomit, what in the heck is that and please tell me it goes away. I weighed myself today and I'm down to 225 which is awesome but sure it's only water weight. Anyway hope everyone is having a great day.

Swelling from the band placement and sutures can cause your pouch/stoma area to restrict anything you consume. If nothing is going through these fluids or food can back up into your esophagus directly under your sternum/xiphoid. It can be very uncomfortable.

This will be the same feeling you'll get later on if you eat too fast, don't chew enough or take bites too large.

You should be more comfortable each day. If you have worsening pain or can't swallow liquids call your doctor before they leave for the weekend. Congratulations!!!!
