cs5646 0 Posted May 11, 2007 Hi everyone, I'm Carolyn. I am new to the boards. I am scheduled to be banded on Wednesday May 16, 2007 at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, IL. Needless to say, I am very excited! I went last week to get my pre-op physical, bloodwork and chest x-ray. Everything came back good except the EKG showed that I have something called Long QT Syndrome, which is most likely being caused my a medication that I am taking (lexapro) for anxiety my disorder. My GP told me that she doesn't see a problem okay-ing the surgery, but problems could arise during my recovery if I get dehydrated, etc. I have to be watched very closely. I also had to go in yesterday for an additional blood test to check my magnesium levels to see if I would need to take something to increase them before my suregery. I am probably the only weirdo that this has ever happened too. Let me know if anone has any advise for me. I really hope everything goes okay and I can get banded, I have waited sooo long for this day! So please keep your fingers crossed for me!
Startin'Over 0 Posted May 11, 2007 I have not been banded yet, and I too just joined the boards, but wanted to say good luck and hope all goes as planned.
clynnc 0 Posted May 11, 2007 Goodluck.. I was banded 11/28/06..total loss 29 lbs..started @ 237 now I'm 208.....it's a good feeling... I have not regrets...Just a piece of advise.. post op- try sleeping mostly upright..in a recliner is good.. It really help with the travelling gas... I hardly had any...My sister thought she was dying b/c of her horrible gas pains. She slept flat on her back.. The first 4-5 days i slept in a recliner and did a lot of praying so I would not end up with gas... It worked.
areellady 1 Posted May 11, 2007 The thing with sleep in the recliner is the gas can get trapped up under the rib cage...I slept in a recliner for 7 days and then ended up in ER with such intense pain up under my left breast I thought I was dying...but the CT scan showed a big line of gas bubbles trapped in my intestines and pushing up on my diaphram. So, I say sleep in the recliner but try to lay down some during the day to let the gas move...Deanna
