I'm 3 days post op. Had to stay in the hospital an extra day because I coul keep anything down. :( , feeling better now, however still a lot of pressure when I sip on my fluids. So far no hunger at all, very thirsty but trying to work on my Fluid intake.

Just wanted to give my perspective on things, feel free to ask any questions or give advice.

I thought SF Popsicles saved me the first days. I could not tolerate cold first thing in morning so I sipped small amounts of warm Water.

I was sleeved on 10/13 and I had to stay an extra night too for the same reason. The day of and 1st day post up were pretty rough for me with nausea and pain. But yesterday I only had a little nausea, and today I haven't had any. So hopefully I'm passed the worst days :)

Fluid is so hard. The swelling and the trauma to your tummy make it so tough. We all go through it. Do your best, don't drink too fast or too quickly or you will be sick. It will get better but it does take a while. Try to remember that staying hydrated helps you feel better, heal faster, and lose more weight.

Thanks everyone. Anyone have any idea how long before I return to some what normal? I'd love to hear what people typically eat in a normal day post op...8 months down the road or longer.

I'm two days post op. Has anyone been having pain from gas?

Gas pain is something ive had since the surgery. I have found that walking more and being on my feet more help to alleviate and expel the pressure. As your new stomach heals it should help with the pain.

I had quite a bit of pain from the gas, but like everyone else says, the only thing that really helped was walking around. So, whenever I start to feel it, that's my sign to get up and get going before it gets any worse.

I was about 5-6 days out before I really started to feel good again and could drink without feeling really uncomfortable! By a week out, I felt great! I'm almost 3 months out now and it's life as usual (except 50 lbs lighter and enjoying the restriction my sleeve gives me). Give it just a little more time, and you'll be doing much better! Congrats, and good luck!!! :)

Drinking gets easier. I found for the first few months, Water had to be ice cold, otherwise it felt too heavy. Warm drinks also went down easy. Room temperature water didn't feel comfortable going down for about 7/8 months. Just keep sipping!

I had mine on the 14th. It has been a challenge to get Water in..luckily they allow milk, and I have mixed my Protein Powder in that, and it saved me! I was very nauseous until yesterday, I wasn't taking any narcotics or anything because of my stomach...I felt like I wasn't doing as well as others who we're saying they were ready to get back to work by day 5. I am walking,etc...have been out to store, but feel tired.

I had relief from gas pains by putting heating pad on my shoulder or abdomen.

I wonder how much in oz. are you taking in? I am able to get 4, but now in reading stuff worry if I risk a leak by too much?

Each day gets a little better. I do feel hungry at times today.

I watched a video of a girl on you tube showing her diet at 2 years out...it looked great :P

@lesile65. I was saying the same thing about people returning to work after t or 6 days. More power to them. I also got my gallbladder taken out as well. Fluid intake has been better lately. I have been doing tea, Water and this Protein liquid. Haven't even tried Protein Powder yet.

I get in about 30 oz of liquid in. That includes my Protein.

Could you share that YouTube video? I've literally been looking on social media all day about post op stuff ( should have been doing this before the surgery) but was scared it was gonna detract me from doing the surgery. I'm not a happy camper yet..more regret than happiness. Hopefully this changes soon.

I haven't felt hungry at all. 6 days post op.

6 days post op and not sure if I am doing things wrong or if I am just lucky. I have no nausea I am on Clear Liquids still which means Isopure flavored water and broths. I am not hungry, but I can sit here and sip all day long. Never get a feeling of being full no gas pain. Getting in 64 oz of fluids and 60 Protein a day. Feel nervous since I don't feel restriction I could probably drink more if I wanted. I do have lower side near back pain and some from largest incision Just wondering if anyone else does not feel restriction. my post op dr apt is oct 24.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
