Does YOUR Dr say this too?

Recommended Posts

My bariatric Dr told me today if food gets stuck and it gets thrown up then we're not to eat any more until the next meal. This is after he asked me if food gets stuck and I told him about 2x a week, if that, ON MY FIRST BITE but ONLY because it's too big of a bite and if I eat my bites too fast. The pain is so intense in waves that I can't take it anymore and make myself bring that piece up and then I can continue to eat the rest of my meal.
Ok, so, with only eating 3 meals per day, no Snacks, no supplimental Protein drinks allowed (though I do anyway. Screw him), I eat my first bite of food, it gets stuck, I suffer in intense pain until it passes (a while), still hungry but not allowed to eat after it passes so then I'm only getting 2 meals in for that day. I'm pretty sure that doesn't give me enough Protein and nutrients for that day.

OR

I simply bring that one piece back up from my first bite then continue to eat my meal, pain free, stuck free and getting in all my nutrients.

No, I'm not bulemic, never will be. Barfing is gross. I just want that stuck piece of food that's causing so much pain to get out so that I can eat the rest of my food.

And why is it usually only the first bite???

And I'll refrain from the rest of the long rant I have about my Dr. I'm done with him and his office staff. Not going back. I've had it. For many other reasons.

(btw, my family dr ran all blood work/vitamins and everything is perfect! :) Bariatric Dr doesn't run those tests until 6 months post op (I'm 3). )

I'm losing my hair in clumps anyway but not because of Protein. It's just because of anesthesia and losing so fat probably.

He didn't even tell us that we looked good and our weight loss is right on track :( The nurse made me feel bad too. This visit sucked. Actually ALL of my visits sucked. Glad I'm done there. I don't need that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
