  1. 1. Who will you spill the beans to?

    • Everyone who will listen! I want the whole world to know.

    • I plan on telling anyone who might be interested, or asks how I'm losing weight.

    • I might tell a few select and close family and confidante's.

    • It will depend how I feel that day.

My husband, our four children (17, 16, 14, 9), my mother. My GP. That's it. My children have been amazing and my biggest cheerleaders. Everyone in my family is very fit so I've always been the odd one out. I am finally fully participating in all family activities!

My husband is concerned that I don't want to tell people. But, it's a very personal decision. I don't typically discuss my health or weight with co-workers so why would this be different?

People in the know...my hubs, my closest direct reports at work (above and below), my mom and sister.

I personally don't think it's anyone's buisness. However, if for whatever reason that topic somehow was to come up, I would freely talk about it as long as the conversation remains descent. First sign of being insulting..... the convo is stopped abruptly never to be rehashed again. Don't have time to play with people about my life or my decisions!

I only told my husband and kids before the operation and waited 3 days after to tell my mother as I was scared she would be disappointed with me for having as some see it the "easy way out" I soon realised I was being stupid and should of told her before. In day to day life now if somebody asks what I'm doing or if the subject comes up I am now more than happy to tell them as I did it to get my life back for me and my family and I'm proud

I told husband, kids and close friends. If I would it it again I would have only told my bff and husband. I still haven't told my mom but recently told my sister to try and help her but met with judgement.

I told my husband, mother, and one of my three sisters. I don't want to hear what anyone has to say. My motto is " I don't give or take advice."

I think I replied here previously about not telling my parents. Well, I told my mother today and to my astonishment, she's on board and supports me. I'm so happy about it! :)

My mom said she is on board but I know she is very concerned. She always supports my sister's and I with everything we do. She would never tell me she didn't want me to do it. I just keep trying to reassure her that the procedure has come a long way. I hate for her to be worried

I'm really not shy about it at all. I typically tell people when they ask about my weight loss. All of my family knows. I don't post about it on Facebook or anything though.

I have told my sister and of course my darling knows as we had long discussions about it. I am sure the rest will all get to know after the surgery. When I think about it, the reason is probably because I feel a bit like a failure resorting to WLS. My head still says I should have been able to do it myself which is a result of how we were brought up - you can achieve anything as long as you put in the effort. Oh well, I want to live rather than exist so if I am a failure in some peoples eyes, so what!!!!!

"Everyone who will listen! I want the whole world to know."

That being said, I'm not wearing it on a tshirt or anything lol. I have chosen to be extremely open about it, though because I'm just a very open person. I don't feel guilty for taking control of my life back. I'm proud I'm taking the steps to be healthy and I sincerely don't care about other's opinions. If they don't like it then I don't care. It's not their life and that will just prove to me what kind of people they are, anyway. Not even worried about it :) I also didn't want to have to keep up with a bunch of different lies or stories. I can't wait, I am so ready for this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
