Recommended Posts

Are there any Louisiana sleever's planning on going to Mexico to have their surgery done within the next five to six months? I ask because I don't want to travel alone. Thanks :)

Sorry, can't help you with the Mexico trip, I was wondering if you had ever heard of Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia, La.

http://www.thomasborlandmd.com/

While it's not Mexico rates, All in price is under 10 grand, and you don't have the travel and language barrier to deal with.Sleeve is the only procedure that he will perform, and he's done thousands. I'm one week out of surgery, and have been more than satisfied with the level of care and service i have received. Give him a look and see if perhaps this might be an alternative to leaving the country for you.

take care.

Thank you but I did call that office and tried speaking with a lady about some payment plan and she quickly said... it has to be paid in full within ten days of the surgery and rushed me off the phone. I would have loved to get the gastric sleeve surgery there but im self pay and don't have $9800 up front. I was trying to get the lady to listen to what I had to say by me paying $1000 per month until March 2015 and I would have the rest up front. I'm still searching :)

I will have my Gastric Sleeve Surgery on Nov. 11th with Dr Thomas Borland. I have heard many great things about him and trust that all will go well. I am more nervous of the weeks following the surgery.

@@amigues yes I am sure Dr Borland is a great surgeon. I'm not going to judge his expertise in the gastric sleeve surgery over one (Rushed) phone call with his receptionist. I love the fact that you only stay three days in a hotel then go home. He is only 1:15 minutes away from my town. Only thing is I won't have anyone trusting enough to stay with me at th he hotel because my husband is not agreeing with my decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery done at all. But I'm still gonna get it done.

I'm 6ft 2in tall and currently weight 260 pounds so he says I can loss it all by myself and I know that but it's difficult to keep it off. It goes up and down and back up again. Like a yoyo.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
