Restriction?

Recommended Posts

I had a stuck episode yesterday for the first time. At least I think it was. It was in my throat/esophagus. Now I have this horrible sensation at the top of my esophagus, have been belching and have increased flatulance. It gets worse when eating solids. Anyone have this happen? I only have 3 cc in my band.

We are/were fat because of the way we eat, what we eat, and how much we eat.

The lap band will change that by forcing us to learn new habits and following different rules.

When someone fears they are too tight, they should first examine what and how they were eating when they had that episode. Instead of blaming the band, I always stopped and looked at that side first. And by doing so it did change me as a person...a thin, fit, and healthy person who will never eat the same as the old self did.

If I'm not happy with the new me, I can always go and get some Fluid taken out...then go back to eating like I did before...

But then, why did I have WLS if that is what I really want to do?

I am not "blaming" the band, simply asking if this is normal. I am newly banded (3 months). I assumed I ate too fast and didn't chew well but now I can't eat solids at all. I am only at 3cc and still have no restriction.

Call your doctor.

You may be swollen. I agree with labwalker...put in a call to the office. Not being able to eat solids is not normal. Good luck...let us know what happens.

It's easy to overeat when you're a newbie. It can take some time to recognize the satiety or stuck signals. I remember getting stuck early in my journey and before I knew it, I had eaten too much and not only was my band/pouch stuffed with food, but I had backed food up into my esophagus. This can stretch out the esophagus causing some minor pain or discomfort.

It's best to go back to liquids for a day or two. Or, at least lay off dense, solid foods like meats or broccoli. Give it a rest. Learning how to eat very slow, eat very small bites and chew food to an applesauce consistency can take months or even years to develop. I'm nearly 3 years out and still struggle with this. So, I believe it's normal but avoidable if you pay close attention and follow the rules. jmo

I know that for me, my band is constantly teaching me how to be a compliant bandster. I have years of unhealthy eating habits to unlearn. It takes time and patience and I try and not be too hard on myself during this process. It's for a lifetime.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
