Dr said as long as it's just a sore throat it is ok to proceed. If I had fever or cough he'd might recommend an delay.. So, I'm ok fly out at noon tomorrow!

I am doing fine, just sore (like expected). I fly out tomorrow and can't wait to be home. I do tire out pretty easily still so I try not to do too much.

Revgirl. I haven't had any throat issues. I couldn't even tell it happened.

Question of the Day for all of us: How are you planning to eat on Thanksgiving?

Answer: So, I will be in the two week full liquids phase. I am planning to have some butternut squash Soup and then a pumpkin pie Protein Shake. I actually feel really good about it. :)

Your turn!!

Question of the Day for all of us: How are you planning to eat on Thanksgiving?

I finally tried out a creamy Soup today, so I'm thinking that's what I'll have on Thanksgiving. And a Water type beverage. Always with the water... It should be fine. My family knows about the surgery, and we're keeping the foods simple this year, so I don't anticipate issues. I'm sure the turkey will smell amazing though. Everything smells amazing these days. ????

Becca, I think what I'm dealing with in my throat is thrush. I will be heading to the Dr. Today. It can be caused by antibiotics which of course we were on after surgery. It is not dangerous in any way, it does hurt alot in my throat though. Hoping to get it under control before thanksgiving!

I did promise some wonderful resources. Two I have found online are Bariatric Foodie which has fantastic recipes of all kinds and Nashua Nutrition where I've ordered the most delicious Protein shakes/ puddings. I also highly recommend Daiya cheeses from the grocery store. So the recipes I'm using from Bariatric goodie? For thanksgiving I'm making a chocolate Cheesecake by mixing 2 packets of Nashua Cheesecake mix for every 8 oz. Chocolate Protein Drink. The whole cheesecake takes 4 packets of cheesecake mix and 2 8 oz. Chocolate Protein Drinks. Let it set in fridge and enjoy! The other recipe that can be used in the full liquid stage and beyond is what I call Swiss cheese Soup. Place 8 oz. of Water in a bowl, add 1 boullion cube (I like chicken) then add 2 slices of Daiya Swiss cheese. Microwave for 3mins. Enjoy! When in the puree stage I hope to use this as a cheese sauce to add flavor.

So glad to hear you are doing well. When you discharge and go back to the hotel, don't try to do too much. We went shopping and I was absolutely exhausted and wished I hadn't gone. In the beginning, just doing a little tires you out.

Yea!! We did it! We flew out of San Diego to Dallas on Friday night and made it home Saturday morning about 1:30. Rested, sipped, walked and slept most of the day. I did go to the grocery store for some Soup and juices. The docs at INT Hospital in Mexico were surprised that I did so well. I had 3 procedures and only had a very little pain when I first woke up. No nausea or throwing up. Having a little trouble with my blood pressure, but no insulin since Wednesday. Down 14 pounds since this started.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
