I had nausea and vomiting yesterday, which was not fun, but it wasn't as painful as I'd assumed it would be. Did they give you some anti-nausea medication?Yes, once I was released to go to hotel they gave me my meds. I have an antibiotic, a painkiller, an anti-nausea, and an antacid. Most dissolve in Water but the antibiotic is already liquid and my stomach did not like the thick sweetness of it. I was finally able to get it down by diluting it and taking a sip every couple minutes. Today I'm doing pretty well. Stomach is rumbly but not painful. Gas is moving out in hiccups and burps. I'll occasionally get a painful bubble but it usually passes fairly quickly. Can't believe it's already been almost two days since surgery. I was going into the OR just about this time Friday. It sounds like you're doing well also. ???? It's encouraging that everyone has come through so well. Good luck wantingabetterlife. I'm sure you'll do great! Becca R. 59 Posted November 16, 2014 Leak test passed and checked into our hotel. Kind of sore, but mostly I feel really good!! Sipping my first food: freesia flavored Gatorade. Only in Mexico.
MS Bling 2 Posted November 17, 2014 Thanks for sharing your experience. I packed my suitcase today. I fly out on the 20th. My surgery is on the 21st. wantingabetterlife 364 Posted November 17, 2014 Hey all! I am doing well here. Some pain on my left side and the incisions are a little sore but can't complain. They are taking such good care of us at Mi Doctor Hospital. I got to meet with Dr Ortiz and Dr Morales, the internal medicine doctor and the anesthesiologist. They all are so nice and reassuring. One of the girls in our group had some problems and Dr Ortiz came back here at 12:30am and stayed with her until 4am. He really cares about his patients. I'm going for my leak test in a few. Thank you for all the encouragement and prayers!!!
Becca R. 59 Posted November 17, 2014 @@wantingabetterlife -- I'm so glad you're doing well! Thank you for checking in. What time did you have your surgery? Aren't the doctors and nurses here amazing?? Like you, I have been so impressed. This morning we went down to the hotel restaurant for Breakfast and then laid out in the sunshine by the pool. I found myself feeling really bad for bariatric patients who have to recover in the dreary winter climates. Having these couple days, outside the hospital but not home chasing all my busy kiddos, feels like such a blessing. Have we heard from @@Revgirl, at all??? Worried about her! wantingabetterlife 364 Posted November 17, 2014 @@Becca R. I was number three. I went back at noon and was up walking around at 3:00. I am trying not to feel the guilty feelings. It does feel so good to be on the other side of this though. I haven't heard from Revgirl at all. I am worried too. @ Don't be scared at all. This place is great and the staff will do everything in their power for you to be happy and pain free. They come by and give you anti-nausea meds and pain meds every few hours. They also will give you sleeping meds if you want them. I just passed my leak test and apple juice never tasted so good!!! And I haven't even felt the slightest bit hungry yet. That's awesome considering I was on the clear diet before surgery. So it's been like a week now!

KristenVSG2014 1,872 Posted November 18, 2014 Basically Week 1 is rough with gas and diet. Week 2 is no more gas and drinking gets easier but by this time I was dying to chew something. I just started Week 3 (puréed, yay!!) and back to work and I'm exhausted.
Becca R. 59 Posted November 18, 2014 @ -- oh my word, I'll bet you're exhausted! I heard that at weeks 3-5 your body actually kinds tries to hibernate, but that it gets much, much better after that.
