Hey, little Missy, you told me in a PM. I do read those things, you know!

Now what you're saying is we can go ahead and party, with or without you? But it just won't be as fun!

:D

And, of course, we have to have both types of music --- Country AND Western!:)

I just shared this thread with my girl friend over here in Texas and she was craaackiiiin up!

She not a bandster but now she wants to join this forum!

I told you ladies that you're just too much fun.

I was wondering who else has a big house, pool and jacuzzi (besides Betty) here in Texas?

Suggestion for menu: Brisket and baked Beans with potatoe salad. In the manual (second page from the last) if your gonna have a get togather in Texas those are the staples of the menu! Oh yeah, Cobbler for desert!

Any other suggestions or ideas ect. ect. ?

I love blackberry and peach cobbler.

As long as the door is open, we don't care. We'll throw that dog a piece of meat and he'll be our friend always.

You just can't get out of this one lady:D  :D

O.K Y'all ready to meet Spud? This dog is the best dog you could ask for. He was given to us about 2 years ago and has been the best guard dog I've ever had. The people gave him away because he was too agressive with thier other male dogs he kept tearing them up. But we've had zero problems out of him since hes been here.

He has fathered one litter of pups and they were beautiful, I sold them all as soon as they were old enough.

There has been two times that he tore into a males calf for coming into my back yard unescorted! You don't want to go into my back yard w/o mama or daddy or get ready to pay the consequences!

I can't begin to know how many prowlers or peeping toms he has warded off.

I seen one of those little metal signs that that they sell at the carnavals that had a black wienie dog on it (real serios looking) and under the dog it asked "Can you reach the fence in 3.5 seconds because I can" It was so funny to me because that is Spud made over. I still regret not buying that metal sign.

Wait! You didnt let me finish, I had to go put my kids to bed.

That was Spud this is Duke.

Duke is a play boy he loves to play, play, play. Spud can't stand it. He runs to get away from Duke! It's so funny to watch them two in action. Duke will run up to Spud and bite his ears snif his butt then lay belly up with his short legs just a dancing around beggin for spud to play with him, Spud gives him a warning with a real serios look and a in the throat growl. But that dos'nt stop Duke, he keep on biting and sniffing and rolling aroung until Spud has had enough thats when Spud runs for the oposite corner of the yard! But since the back yard is fenced there no escape for Spud! Duke just follows him around begging to play! One day Spud is gonna give in and roll on his back right along with Duke.

I think the reason why those two are so funny to me is because they remind me of Tom and I.

Tom's the real serios one like Spud (he's an intelect) and I'm the playful one rolling around belly up always looking for a good time. But what others don't know is that persistance has paid off for me. When others ar'nt looking Tom likes to play too!

Hi Lisa...

Im only 2 1/2 hours from Houston.... I think this is a really GREAT idea! Ill stop by and pick up Kelly!!!

Itll be a paxil-popping weekend!

I think the idea WITH the guys is a good one.

I can't pass this one up...A paxil-popping weekend! OMG girl!

If I have anything at my house my kids are gonna be here and yours is welcome too! I have a seperate living area just for my kids. It keeps them out of my living room (sometimes). I'm thinking about turning thier livingroom into a gameromm with table tennis or a pool table. I can't decide. I like table tennis. Tom likes pool. I want to burn calories!

Actually I gave my antidepressants up three years ago, they caused me to gain too much weight.

I don't need them now, thank God. I can't stand to be on an emotional rollercoaster ya know!

I'm under the impression we're tossing this ball of where the next bash is around until someone catches it and won't let it go! I'm game as always for get togathers, I love to entertain! But, I also would'nt mind it if someone else wants to play hostess (esp. here in the Houston area!)

Lisa, Ive been thinking about this one!

Houston is actually a wonderful general meeting area. Lots of us are near there and Houston has tons of things for families: zoo, astroworld, museums, just to mention a few.

I think if we get enough input from the Vegas Bash folks and use their wisdom to plan this one - we can possibly have a great Houston Bash as well.

I promise to help you plan for this in ANY way. I think January/Feburary would probably be a good time to "aim" for...

Oh and we must INSIST that Alexandra and her crew comes along! Hear that Alex???

Paula and Lisa G: I am all for having a bash in Jan/Feb. Just let me know what I can do to help coordinate.

By the way, any Houston Astros fans out there? Looks good for them in the World Series don't it?

Oh yeah and I am a YANKEE's fan. They beat the snot out of Boston Red Sox last night. 19 to 8!!!!! Can we say World Series Bound?

Lisa G., I guess your doggie pics disprove the "Everything's Bigger in Texas" theory, doesn't it? They're precious!

Now, back to the thread... when is the Bash going to be at your house? And can we bring pets, too? I only have 4 cats and 3 dogs. They're all neutered, housebroken, and don't shed TOO Much.

Ha! Ha! low blow Marie...what I lack in dog I make up for in personality!

That's it I'm putting my foot down on this one. NO dogs, no cats, no pets esp. the shedding kind Marie. Period the End!

Hey, what do y'all think about renting one of those Galveston beach houses for the weekend? It'll be out of season so the price will be rock bottom if we have it in the winter like y'all are talking about! You know instead of renting hotel rooms a few of us could go in togather and rent a beach house. Sounds like fun to me!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
