Hello ChubMuffin,

Congratulations on your decision to take control of your health. It's been 4 years since my surgery and I have NEVER regretted that decision! I felt similar to what you describe - "scared and excited." This is normal. Feeling scared doesn't mean that you question whether you're doing the right thing or not (not at this point). It's a natural reaction to something you've never experienced before.

As you trust your doctor, trust your decision, AND... trust God! You will be in good hands!! Keep us posted regarding your recovery.

p.s. I appreciate your post because it has inspired me to get back on track. I have been dealing with some other physical issues (unrelated to LapBand) and got discouraged about exercising disciplines in my diet. Am making my way back to better health!! Sometimes these health issues interfere with the weight loss.

Congrats! I'm 2 days post op and feeling sore but ok. Trying to get my Protein in but it's a struggle. Mostly a mental game thinking you're hungry but not. Can't wait for week 2.

I'm just starting week 2 post-op and feel so much better than those first few days. Don't worry so much about Protein. Just drink as many fluids as you can and let your body heal. In a few days, you'll be feeling great.

Yeah, the first few weeks are going to be delicate and can't be rushed. For a while you may even be dealing with a small amt of gas circulating, especially around the shoulder and chest area. Can be very, very uncomfortable. For relief, I was advised to take Gas-X Thin Strips (extra-strength) which dissolve on the tongue.

Treat the time before your first follow up appt as a healing time and do yourself a favor...stay off the scales. Drink plenty of fluids, and get well. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
