Nothing's up with that Janice. A half pound is just a good dump away. Sorry for being crude but it could be anything...your tom, a full colon, too much salt last night...anything.

Take it from someone who's been at this for a while...stay off the scale. It will drive you crazy. If you are being compliant, you don't need to weigh yourself very often. Pay attention to how your clothes are fitting or other NSVs. They're better than any number for sure. I list my stats just for informational purposes but I never weighed myself more than once a week even when I needed to get to 200 lbs. in order to have my hip replacement surgery. I've lost more than 140 lbs. and never lost more than 3 lbs. in a single week.

It will come off, I promise. Follow your doctor's protocol and you will be fine. Good luck to you.

I completely agree with @gowalking. I am only 3 months post op and have only weighed myself at doctor visits. I rely on how my clothes are fitting. Every day is different. I put all of my focus on my Water and Protein intake. I also watch my carbs really closely. Today, it has been 3 months since my surgery and I am down 75 lbs. Follow the plan and the weight will come off. Best of luck!!

Don't sweat it. Most people go up and down by a few pounds. Just focus on what you have already lost and were you are going.

It's just one glass of Water. Think about the fact that you're probably drinking 64+ ozs(8 glasses a day) of Water plus any other fluids like shakes, crystal lite, coffee? Easy to gain a lb of fluids in one day.

Are you weighing the same time of day on the same scale in the same clothes? There is so much that could affect your weight, just like the above posters said too.

Take a break from the scale for awhile and just work your program. Believe me I know it is hard to not jump on there everyday to see how you are doing but don't do it if it makes you crazy. Someone once said to me "You have to trust the process." I know that is sometimes easier said than done, but try!

Good luck, you can do this!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
