Has anyone been told your losing too much?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious. I am one week post op and down 20 lbs. I have been doing everything I've been told but extremely exhausted. So weak my kids are pretty much having to do things for themselves. It's a great thing to lose, but is there a standard on when it's dangerous? Anyone with results like this?

SW: 248 at 5'1 - I had no gain after surgery due to fluids

You are probably weak from the surgery itself not the weight loss. I lost 20 first week as well and now I am losing about 10lbs a month. If you are getting in Protein and plenty of Water and taking your Vitamins you are good. Don't worry before you know it the scale will slow down and may even stall for awhile. It's normal. I keep track of my weight on my fitness pal so I can see that I may lose a lot then stall then lose..

I agree your body has to adjust and heal to the new you, trust me you will have stalls but continue to follow your doctors orders I know today when I was with my brother ge kept touching my face and saying how skinny it ook you don't look like yourself I just laugh because the fat faced girl is gone .

I see some people lose 30-40 the first 6 weeks and others 15-20 so I'm open to whatever loss comes. Something has to happen because your basically starving until your body is eating fat reserves for fuel. If your only taking in 5-600 calories you are bound to drop some serious lbs. relax and heal enjoy the ride!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
