How Have You Lost Your Weight?

Recommended Posts

I've found that to lose, I must assist the band. So I embarked on the "6-week body makeover, and I am having great results. My impression is that we still need to help this band along, and it will help us with not regaining the weight as it has been in the past

What do you think?

I changed my lifestyle.

I changed my diet (not going on a diet, I overhauled the way I eat, made the way my family and I eat something we can live with forever) changed my exercise habits (again, nothing that is too hard to live with forever), and worked on my outlook on life.

These three things helped me take the weight off with the help of the band. I am doing nothing different now while maintaining, than I did while I was losing.

i did a complete 180 ... pre-banding i DID NOT MOVE. if i wanted something to eat / drink and i was on the couch i would ask DH to get it for me. i didnt want to walk down the driveway to get the mail (our driveway is 1 car lenght long). when we went shopping, instead of parking, i would have DH drop me off in front of the store and then go park... i am actually very embarrassed by this now... to think of what my DH thought ... :think

i ate garbage all the time. i would buy a HUGE bag of Reese's Peanut Butter cup mini's and eat that. a 4 lb bag would last maybe a few days.. when we went out for dinner we always got an appetizer and dessert.

NOW:

i wake up at 445 to go work out for at least 45 minutes - cardio and strength

i have a personal trainer

i eat right about 85 - 90% of the time i still need to work on this

when we go shopping, i just tell DH to pull into the first spot i see as opposed to the closest ...

i LOVE what my life has become.

losingjusme- That's a really touching story! I haven't had the guts to face my demons of bad habits. I don't do them like I use to (things about making fiance do stuff because I'm too lazy to get up and walk), or what I could binge eat.. but it still bothers me to think about.. a bridge I'll cross some other time..

I have been banded 6-months and have lost 35 lbs without much efforts. I have ordered the 6-week body makeover program and am wondering how you are doing on it so far or if you are still doing it.

I eat like a bird and I started to hit the gym about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I'm down 20 lbs since I started to work out again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
