Getting sleeved on 11-12 in Chicago at Northwestern. Can't wait - my mom at bypass 10 years ago and the only regret she has is she didn't do it earlier! I already drink a lot of Protein as I am very active - weight training, cardio and golf. I find vanilla cream and Vitamin Water Orange is a good easy mix. Premier Protein is pretty cheap at costco or on Amazon. Currently 30 and 6-1 310 and am hoping to settle in around 240.

Anyone else in the Chicago area getting sleeved around then?

I'm not in Chicago- but I am in Indianapolis! Not too far ;-) my surgery is set for 11/11

Going shopping today for my Protein shakes and all my sugar free Popsicles and Jello for the pre op diet.

Nervous about it and prepping my brain for the task at hand!

Good luck gang.

Okay, it's official. Got my lab work date, upper GI date and delivery date for meds. I think I have everything I need. I am a planner. Let's share our lists. Here is mine, tell me if I am missing anything.

Abdominal binder,

B-12 sublingual,

Broths,

Calcuim citrate+D,

GasX Strips,

Heat/cold packs,

Miralax,

Multivitamin,

Pepcid/prilosec/tums,

Protein Shakes,

Tylenol liquid

Your list looks really good. Have you thought about adding sugar free popsicles or Jello?

Several ppl have recommended a sippy cup to help from not drinking too much too fast. Sounds crazy but they swear by it in the beginning stages!

I am also November 4th! I am going to do one week pre-op liquid diet. I have ordered sample packs of Protein Drinks from nectar and injury. I'm gonna try those before I purchase any big containers! I am buying all my Vitamins on pay day next week. Another thing I just decided is that I'm going to do a big day of freezer cooking before surgery for my kids meals. They are all crockpot meals so I can just stick them in in the morning and not have to worry about cooking :0) Soooo excited!

I was looking online last night at the different brands and flavors. I think I'm going to get a few flavors of the Isopure and Nectar (samples) to try before I invest in a tub. Lol

I have found these delish Protein Bars that have between 18-21 gr of protein and only 3 gr sugar. They are made by Pure Protein. They are 10 for $10 at Kroger's grocery store right now if anyone has that grocery in your city.

Premier Protein vanilla or chocolate pre-made drinks and vanilla ice cream whey Protein - easy to mix with lots of beverages.

Bars will be tough to eat after surgery we were told by our dietician but are good for now to help build up your protein in take.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
