My surgery is 2 days after yours on the the 12th. I already have insurance approval and I go for my pre op on the the 28th. I'm excited but nervous at the same time because I've never had surgery before. Good luck to you on your journey. :)

We will definitely have to keep each other encouraged. With the exception of having my tonsils out as a kid this my first "real" surgery also. We will get through it together.

November 4th for me. Insurance approval already received. I've got to lose 14lbs more before my pre-op on 10/27 but I know I can do it. I've been on a pretty strict nutritional plan for about the past 2 weeks and have averaged a pound a day.

Soooooo ready to get this done and start the next chapter in my life!

Thanks!! You r blessed!!Wish mine could cook! He is the king of takeout- n fried food is his main staple!! Ugh my mother cooked organic(from our garden) all from scratch(I'm ancient lol) and no weight issues till I married him- @ age 32 I had to take 80mg prednisone daily for awhile to save my vision! Then my sedentary job/lifestyle reinforced the fat cells! But I'd still marry that man again - almost 50 years with him! Wanna enjoy the rest of my life with my honey!!

Love the positivity you feel on this forum! Needed! We gotta keep

Each other motivated and focused!!

So many success stories!!

Thanks Toccora!

I've been doing 3 Protein shakes, drinking one bottle of Cocotein and then having a can of tuna or chicken with one tablespoon of light mayo and some mustard with one serving of Melba crackers. I drink nothing but Water. No caffeine whatsoever (and oh I miss my white monsters!!!). If the pace slows, then I'm going full liquid with 5 shakes only.

I didn't give myself a lot of time to meet the doctors pre-op weight loss goal (38lbs) because I need surgery by the 4th or I have to wait until January due to work. I didn't have my first appt with the clinic until 8/25!

. You are not ancient I grew up on a diary farm, so we had our own garden also and unpasteurized milk too for that matter. I am the same way, I used to eat all I wanted those days and never a pound now I have to take drastic measures to take the weight off. 50 years...and he is supportive of you doing something wonderful for yourself. Hats off to that man. This is our journey to the rest of our lives, we have to stay focused, positive and motivated.

I am learning so many things, my doctor never gave me a weight loss requirement for pre-op. I can have 5 shakes/bars a day and a low calorie and low fat dinner. I can comply with that. What is your shake of choice?

I have a really high BMI so he required the loss to lower complications risk and shrink the liver.

My favorite shake is one that I actually get from my local nutrition store. They make it themselves. It's very thin, which I like, and is medical grade so has no fillers or binders. The strawberry and banana are yummy!

I carry a Blender Bottle with me everywhere and zip lock baggies of Protein powder in my purse. Gonna have fun explaining those if I ever get pulled over. Lol

I haven't tried the muscle milk light yet. Might have to check that out for some quick grab and go. How many carbs/protein?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
