I have the glue and steri-strips. Internal dissolving stitches. Except where the drain was. They just bandaged it and said when it quits seeping I can leave the bandage off. It only took a day for it to stop. But boy does it look gross now. Hope there isn't any infection going on.

I have been getting a pretty persistent pain in my lower right side for the last couple hours, not to the point of hospital, if it still there in the morning, probably will check with doc. but what is on the lower right side?

Had trouble with liquids the last couple days trying to do pureeds. probably 45 to 50 ounces per day. not bad I know but not there either.

Home safe and sound. Resting in my little room. Had Breakfast already. 2 oz lactaid and a scoop of unjury vanilla. It was delicious and I ate about 1/2 of it. Will continue to work on it. I have been up since 5 AM and I have managed 5 ounces of liquids.

Boy, do I burp all the time. It's ridiculous. I hope this passes or I will not be able to eat in front of another person ever.

I feel good but a little weak. Will stay in bed most of the day, I'm sure.

CALL your surgeon! If pain is localized and your suddenly having trouble getting liquids in it's worth their taking a look!

Let us know how your doing today?

Awesome Beni!! So no gas pains? I expected gas pain between my shoulders (where I'd had it with previous surgeries) but this time it was a all lower abdomen and back. But I found when I bent over just a bit I could burp out alot and then we'll, ya know....sit on toilet quick! :-) I can happily say now though, I can safely trust a fart once again!!! (It's the little things in life that excite me!) Oh, and yes the burping and belly noises do indeed get better!!

I agree, give your surgeon a call. Better to be safe and get it checked out. Hope it gets better!!

No gas pains at all. No pain meds either. My surgery seems so different from most, I am kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. There must be a catch and I have just not gotten to it. For right now I am counting my blessings.

I see people posting about having staples removed. I had rny & they told me I have staples & stitches & I'll have them for life. I'm confused, are other people having staples removed also?

internal staples you keep. Some people had external Staples to close their incisions. Some people have a derma bond to close their incisions. Some people had sutures and Steri-Strips to close their incisions.

One of my best friends who had gastric bypass surgery years ago stated that she had no complications and no pain after her surgery

@@VASCRN no not having heartburn but it may mean you need to have a additional or different Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) med to reduce the acid in your new stomach pouch. Call your Doc to discuss your symptoms. Is it at night or day after eating certain foods or liquids? Have your symptoms written down so you can give them the best sense of what's happening so can try & diagnose over the phone or call you in. good Luck & no I'am not a doctor so follow Your Doctors advice!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
