Thanks, I'll need it. Pain and I are not best friends. I just hope I don't cry like a baby and embarrass myself to death.

Had surgery on the 22nd and the recovery process has been a little challenging. I parent alone and still want to be fully available to my daughter but my energy level is so low right now. I'm so looking forward to feeling "normal" again. Ugh! Frustrated ????

How old is your daughter?

My son is 13 and he was a huge help to me.

Beni, I've cried so much the last week, between pain and emotions gone wild---it may happen friend. But seriously, Don't be embarrassed!! The hospital staff expects it, and hopefully your hubby is a good support system for you. I am beyond thankful for my family. They've let me cry and cry whenever I need to. I had another bout of tears today. 99 % of my pain is from this damn drain and I am just so sick of having to change the dressing, which hurts and having it hang out of me.... wish I were stronger to handle it, but I'm just not. Remind me, will you have a drain?

I'm very impressed you're parenting alone and still healing yourself. I couldn't imagine. My youngest is 8 and she's my little mother hen, she's been a gem. And my 21 yr old daughter was also home from college for 4 days. Such a huge blessing to me!! Even my boys (14 and 17) have been making sure I'm not doing too much and hauling laundry for me, etc. My 14 yr old step son just says, " Amy, I don't mean this sound bad, but you just look awful. Go rest!!" LOL!

Lol, your step son is a gem. Pretty soon he'll be amazed when you're running circles around him.

I cried like a baby 4 days post op. I made it worse on my pain because of the crying. It is totally Okay to cry, we are making life altering decisions and are hoping for a favorable outcome.

@@Jyoyonomore, I appreciate your sympathies, but I actually am doing very well. I just learned early on, Water is not agreeing with me, and switched. Was out tonight at my weekly trivia game, did order Water but added crystal light, again no problem.

I went out yesterday on an outing for about 12 hours, took a cooler with yogurt, with Protein added, and two Protein Shakes. Had Soup with Protein when I got home. it was a good fun day. I walked and walked, had a blast.

Can't wait for Tuesday for pureed foods.

I can't help you since my surgery is next Tuesday but I hear for some people the nausea last a while. Are you allowed to have a nausea patch behind your ear. It's OTC at the drugstore but check with your doctor first.

the scolpamine patch can be pre ordered by your doc as a prescription.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
