Jyoyonomore 319 Posted October 26, 2014 I picked up my nausea patch at the pharmacy today and got the last odds and ends I will need at the hospital and when I come home. I have sf Popsicles, sf Jello, some broth, yoghurt and cream Soups. I think I am ready! I even went to Macy's and got 3 new pair of comfy pj's. 4 more days! @kimodell69. Do you have Prune juice & Gas x?
Jyoyonomore 319 Posted October 26, 2014 ive tried both even purified and distilled. Tonight I tried warm to hot Water it's still cramping but not as bad. I've never wanted anything more right now than to just drink a cup of water. @Layknee. What about crystal light? Just keep pushing liquids.
Jyoyonomore 319 Posted October 26, 2014 Was there someone else in here having problems sleeping? This is the 2nd night now. Thought it was just a fluke last night. I went to bed at 10pm tonight cuz I was exhausted. actually fell asleep fairly quickly. Woke up, felt like I'd slept a really long time. It had been 10 mins. And I've been awake ever since reading. I finally just gave up and resorted to the living room recliner. Shockingly I nestled right into it. Usually it's uncomfortable for me. It's my honeys chair, lol. But goodness, I couldn't find a position that wasn't hurting me in bed. Ughh. Looks like I'll start taking my melatonin again I guess. But for tonight its a good book and HGTV! @@amylynns sleep that's a issue for me too. I go to sleep around 11:30p but then I'm awake at 4:30am, 5:30sm the latests once was 6;30am????. I was a 7 to 8 hr sleeper before so not sure where this coming from. I told the RN at my 1 WK follow up appt & they said they could give me a script for sleeping if I'm still having this in November when I return to see the Surgeon but I could try melatonin or the usual warm milk read a book ideals. I hate taking Meds so will likely go with reading s book or warm milk first, I wonder if cutting out the ghrelin. means you lose a enzyme associated with sleep? ShonIsLove 64 Posted October 26, 2014 My sleep patterns have definitely changed. I am usually in bed by 10:30 and up at 5:45. Now I go to bed 11:30 or 12 and I'm up at 1:45. Takes a long time to go back to sleep and then up again by 5. I hope this doesn't last long. I enjoy my sleep and will need it when my full routine kicks back in. kimodell69 138 Posted October 26, 2014 Woke up in pain this a.m. Holding on to hope of a resolution. @@layknee Have you called your surgeon? I hope they figure out what's going on. I hate that you are having so much trouble! Please go to the ER. You need to take care of yourself. xoxo
Beni 1,484 Posted October 26, 2014 PEDIALITE - Remember we gave that to babies for dehydration. Wouldn't it follow that it would be good for us. We need to ask out doctors. But I can't see it being bad, if you can have Crystal light which has citric acid, wouldn't this be far better? It doesn't make sense to me that there's cramping with Water but not with Crystal Light. Could it be that with Crystal Light you know it's going to taste good and somehow it relaxes you in the expectation of a pleasant flavor. With Water, you maybe thinking "I really hate water" and tense up as you drink. I know that's far out there. The only other thing I can think of is, when you wash your eyes with water it stings but with tear replacement drops it does not. Could it be that water has the same effect on the injured stomach? layknee 357 Posted October 26, 2014 I love Water. Before surgery I would drink almost 3 liters a day. I bought some pedialyte to try. But I am craving water.
amylynns 802 Posted October 26, 2014 So I finally took melatonin at 4:30. Ummmm, note to self, don't take 2 like I used to. Omg, what in the world? I still feel totally drugged 5 1/2 hours later. And I have never felt drugged using it before. I've used it for years. And my belly is very upset. I must have metabolized it differently now?
amylynns 802 Posted October 26, 2014 I would always add fresh lemon to my Water, I don't care for plain water. That's be a good question for your Dr. Layknee. Why the body reacts that way.
Naynay31 63 Posted October 26, 2014 Layknee- I just tried drinking some regular Water. I had the same thing happen as I think you are. A tightness/cramping in the upper chest? I added some cranberry juice and I'm good now. But how weird is that?? I wonder what's up with that? I get cramps up right to just drinking water so I'm loving my crystal Iight lol that is crazy tho what's going on with the water
freelyme 149 Posted October 26, 2014 Sooo post-op day 3 and I'm home. Day 1 was fine; day 2 was terrible with dehydration and pain. Pain wasn't from the gas but realized later it was from the drain which came out but the site leaked through my bandage and my abdominal binder. Much better today, mostly just sore struggling to get in Protein and Water. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes as I've never seen my surgeon quite so bubbly, she was very pleased after surgery! Good luck to those still to come and a speedy recovery to those who are on the mending side! We've all GOT this!!
tacycakes 127 Posted October 26, 2014 Does anyone else get the rumbly tumblies in their belly after they eat I get a lot of gas movement or something while I am and after I eat.Yes! I also have a very rumbly tumbly. I have pain and cramping on my left side incision sites. Most of the time they are "grit and bear it" pains but every so often it feels like someone shot me with a 38 special. Where I can't even breathe. Fortunately, that's only happened twice. My liquid shots of Protein are so sweet that they're disgusting. That and the liquid oxycodeine. Grossss.
