Has anyone every lost too much weight?

Recommended Posts

My surgery weight was 320lbs

I had to deal with major complications/ 4mm stricture and ended up with a feeding tube in my old stomach for 3 months. I am fighting to keep my weight at 160lbs now. My surgery date was 2/26/14 a bit over 7months out now. Has anyone out there had to deal with a situation like this?

I am just getting started but I am curious what does your doctor say?

I started out at 332 pounds. I am a 5'2", 49 year old woman. I this morning I weighed 123 pounds. My surgery was on 7/25/2013, so I am approaching my 16 month anniversary. Currently my BMI is in the 'normal' range, so the doctors are not concerned. However, I am being very careful not to lose any more weight. I have A LOT of excess skin. I think my true weight if I had the skin removed would put me closer to the 100 - 110 pound range (I have excess skin on my belly, arms and legs). This would put me in an "underweight" BMI. I have had no complications at all, I have just followed my doctor's nutrition plan and exercise daily. I am very healthy and feel terrific. However, if I follow the plan too closely, my weight continues to drop and I think in order to stay healthy I need to keep my weight were it is - no matter what a doctor might tell me differently.

Good luck!

Carol

I'm glad your both ok now I am looking forward to loosing my weight, then maintaining my weight i Agee with the above statement you know how you look and how you feel despite if your doctor wants you to loose additional weight, I believe you and your doctor should work together , but you know what's right for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
