AllysonS 0 Posted October 13, 2014 After slacking for the past year and regaining 15 lbs I'm back on the weight loss wagon. I'm eating about 1000 cal per day and huvering around 65-70 grams of protien per day. But I am completely constipated. My Dr said I need to up my Fiber and Water intake. I forgot to ask how many grams of Fiber I should eat? I started adding benifiber to my liquids so that's a start. Any thoughts? Oh and I'm down 9 lbs since starting back in 4 weeks ago. This is a never ending battle for me. Thanks everyone! Allyson
CherieRyde 227 Posted October 13, 2014 I typically eat raisin bran at least once a day and that keeps things moving. I've stocked up on pureed prunes to get things moving again later this week, and once I'm back on real food, I'll have my raisin bran again.
chayamom 8 Posted November 17, 2014 Look into chia seeds. It works great and you can make a pudding out of it. Check it out online.
Kindle 8,667 Posted November 17, 2014 Insoluble Fiber will work better for Constipation than soluble fiber (like benefiber). Soluble fiber actually slows down your intestinal tract, which is NOT what you need when you're constipated. I use Garden of Life Raw Fiber and Renew Life Triple fiber and make sure I'm getting at least 10g insoluble fiber everyday. Can't poop without it! I Don't bother to look at the soluble fiber amount. And FYI, being insoluble, it won't dissolve like benefiber. Insoluble fiber is going to settle out and/or gel. I just put it in a big Protein smoothie and it turns it into a thick shake. Foods that have a good amount of insoluble fiber are flax seeds, chia seeds, broccoli, whole grains, artichokes, tomatoes, green Beans, dark leafy greens, zucchini, celery, raisins, and grapes. I found one variety of Kashi Go Lean with 10g insoluble Protein per cup. I mix it with Greek Yogurt. And I've read other people have found success with good ol' prune juice. Bob the builder 32 Posted January 28, 2015 I put a store brand fiber powder in my morning Protein Shake. One teaspoon seems to work. 2 teaspoons and its Katie bar the door. Lol
