as of today I made it! to halfway, the better half. my band removal to sleeve surgery was 5 months ago. my band was 7 years ago and ended up leaking and created bulemia. I could never tell if I could eat, overeat, or vomit after 2 bites, and couldnt get below 202. I am so thankful I did this, tho it is still far from easy and I have a lot of GERD. Happy to be in onederland, even happier to try on clothes from 20 yr ago, triple happy to have hope for my future. my wonderful hourglass figure is not here yet, but it is so much better overall, and my dowager's hump is almost gone. I shall be looking into some plastics and such, but for now, I feel my path is bright. love sara

I went thru a month of hell with my mom becoming sick on the other side of the country. coming home, hit a long plateau but I am dealing with it all and finally losing a bit again. it was a rough patch, and I cant eat myself into a coma with the sleeve, so I just had to deal with it. plus I am worried about ebola, being a nurse and working for a company that is not giving us protection and that I dont like their decisions. cant say much about that on here. so back to exercise bike, eating right, drinking enough, having faith, and it works. I hope to get back to the y soon for Water aerobics, and to o.a. meetings always helped, but only the sleeve worked for actually losing the weight. It is kinda scary, but I love taking in my jeans. again, faith, that it wont come back. I am into some of the clothes I packed away in hope of wearing them again. still not too near the sizes 10-14, but I hope to wear them again this year sometime, maybe by spring or summer. it is all a journey of faith, hope, love and forgiveness. love sara

Hi Sara, slow and steady wins the race as they say. I do not yet have the sleeve but I am getting it on December 9th. I'm having my lap band removed. Have had some trouble with it over the 6 years that I've had it. The doc unfilled me completely about 3 weeks ago and I am holding on trying not to gain weight. I wish us all the best.

Alfie :)

well it is up and down for the same 3#. in the old days I would have certainly gained in a difficult period like this. also, I notice my plateaus are allmost all at my old setpoints, I think the last time I weighed this, 20 yr ago, it was for a couple years. again, bike, Water, hope, prayer, Protein Drinks. walk away from the sweets. and so on. reading here helps. my pants are getting loose again, and I have to take in my pajamas. he he. love sara

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
