coasterfam 1 Posted October 13, 2014 I am 6 days out from RNY and after every very low sugar Protein Shake I get sweaty an have diarrhea. This seems to be dumping to me but the shakes are less than 3 grams of sugar. Anyone else with problem ?
smiley922 447 Posted October 13, 2014 Could it be lactose intolerance?
winning_by_losing 107 Posted October 14, 2014 As Smiley suggested this could be lactose intolerance. Have you tried any that are not made with milk? Something like Isopure? Another thought: How much of those shakes are you trying to drink at once? In my program I wasn't able to move onto Protein shakes until week 2 or 3, but even then it was something like 4oz (liquid) for a meal.
coasterfam 1 Posted October 14, 2014 The shakes I am using are 98% lactose free. My program advances from clear to full liquids after 3 days.
dc0520 263 Posted October 14, 2014 I have a lactose intolerance now - I can't handle anything other than shakes that are completely lactose free and I experience what you have. I wouldn't trust 98%. Give it a try and see how it goes.
coasterfam 1 Posted October 15, 2014 Looks as if that's the problem! Thanks. Any suggestions on Protein Drinks ?

dc0520 263 Posted October 15, 2014 Isopure is my savior.
Amyllf2 206 Posted October 17, 2014 Don't run out and buy a ton of Isopure. Try it first. People love it or hate it. I hated it.
katnfl 4 Posted October 17, 2014 Hi, I'm 3 days post-op and i had Unjury unflavored Protein mixed with crystal light this morning... it was kind of hard to drink and now the thought of a Protein Drink makes me nauseaus... any one else experience this or have any advice? Thanks
coasterfam 1 Posted October 18, 2014 Isopure cut in half with Water and then flavored with water enhancers is ok. Once I was on full liquids I mixed the unflavored Protein with strained cream of chicken Soup. Just make sure it isn't over 140 degrees.
