Surgery Tomorrow Morning

Recommended Posts

Well my band has slipped. After 7 months and many many sleepless nights due to acid reflux and dreadful heartburn, I go in for surgery tomorrow to reposition my band. Thanks god he can reposition it rather than take it out completely because if that were the case I would be devastated. Looking forward to getting back to normal again.

Hi

Only joined this forum today! Read your post with interest. I'm 6 years post Lap band surgery this month!

I've been relatively problem free with a weight loss of 7 stone (98lb). However duRing the last six months I've regained half of the weight and suffered from dilbilatating acid. Reflux & vomiting.

I've yet to get to the bottom of this?

I would get checked! I was told that acid reflux is a sure sign that something is not right.

Long story really... Well I went back to where I had it done but only saw a nurse and that was a waste of time as she ended up filling my band. Now things are worse than ever!

Yes I know. The problem I face here in the UK is that I had it doMe as a private patient. Therefore the Nhs won't deal with it and I don't have any money to pay for investigations.

I am in the process of trying to get transferred across from the paid system to the free one.

Surgery went well. Now I start over new! Liquids.....mushies and so on. It was so nice to sleep last night with no heartburn or acid reflux. I didn't have to prop 4 pillows behind my head and back to sleep sitting up. On the road once again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
