Day 4 Post-Op: Feeling great...but tired.

Recommended Posts

Today is day 4 post-op, and while I am feeling pretty good as far as pain (or actually soreness) goes...I have really been lazy today and tired.

I am getting my Protein and Water in with no trouble, and even had some Decaf this morning. I'm about to have some cream of chicken Soup in a little bit...so I think life is pretty good right now. I have noticed already that I have not needed any diabetes medication (as it has been perfect since the day of surgery), and my blood pressure (top number) is a little high still, so I continue the HBP med.

Other than the occasional gas pain in my left shoulder, I'm doing pretty good, I think, and learning all over again what my stomach is trying to tell me. Being down at least 21lbs since the 2 week pre-op diet has been a bonus too!

I think my emotions are a little screwed up though. The thought of having to give up some of my favorite foods have hit me hard the last day or two. Oh, how I love Texas BBQ, enchiladas, tamales, and fried catfish! I can do without the fried foods and sodas pretty easily, I think. My love affair with Mexican food ending makes me sad though...

:)

I am post-op day 4 as well and I've felt very similar. Increasing liquids and Proteins, pain is minimal, but have felt very weak today. I'm not sleeping much at all so I know that's part of it.

And yes, my emotions are OUT OF CONTROL. My husband said I wasn't even this emotional after we had a baby!

@@TxCop300 glad to hear you are recovering so well. I don't think your days of eating your favorite foods are over. the only thing that is over in the amount of which you most likely ate!!! instead of a full rack of ribs, you eat 2!!! if you pace your eating it will take just as long to eat them. enjoy that flavor.... damn.... now I'm hungry. (eating some Beans with melted cheese and chalula. you'll see.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
