Any November Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Day 9 of 14 pre op. Feel ok but do have sinking spells of weakness but it passes. I don't think there is any way I could exercise while consuming only 800 calories a day. 5 more days!

In terms of pre-op diet...I am starting day 5 today. Not going to say I didn't cheat a little bit, but I'm trying to eat things like...a pack of tuna, or a chicken breast if I do cheat. Unlike others, I have 14 days of liquids - that is, no veggies or solid Protein of any kind (well, I can have a half cup of low fat cottage cheese every day), just 3-4 Protein Shakes, broth, sugar free Jello, and sugar free Popsicles. There are 3 doctors at my hospital and my doctor does the 14 day diet, one doctor does 10 days, the other 3 days. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done, not being able to actually chew anything. I also haven't lost a single pound (maybe the plain grilled chicken breast I ate is holding me back! Lol), but that's just further affirmation to me that my body is freakin' crazy and I HAVE to get this surgery to have some help losing this weight. Surgery on November 20th. Good luck guys!!!

Keep it up. You've totally got this! The diet after surgery is painfully similar. I haven't, and won't be able to, chew for over 4 weeks. I actually had a dream last night that I was eating a giant salad at a salad bar. Lol.

@ girl yes!!! salad sounds so good! I have been craving a can of carrots for four days, Haha so weird. When you can't have anything, I guess your priorities change, lol. I hated cottage cheese before this but we are best friends now!

That's funny, I've never been a fan of cottage cheese either but I've been dreaming of some ways I can use it during puréed stage in a few weeks. And refried Beans never sounded so amazing in all my life.

This time tomorrow I will be on my way to the hospital to check in for surgery! I am so excited! :) I give all you liquid dieters props....I dont have to start liquids until 6pm tonight! I am nervous. I think i am mostly nervous to be at the hospital overnight and leave my furbabies to be cared for by my stepson lol. My doctor offers the surgery as outpatient but my insurance requires the overnight :/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
