I am almost 3 weeks post-op and my doctor switched me this week at my visit to soft foods. I'm not sure if I'm eating to fast or it's the food but I'm throwing up at least once a day since the change. Has anyone experienced once you add soft foods in your diet you are not able to keep food down that much? Any pointers?

I threw up constantly for five months. They found nothing wrong with me at all. I had endoscopy, ct scan every test and nothing was wrong. Now at six months out I am finally better but I really watch how much food I put in my mouth at one time and how fast I eat. It gets better so hang in there. Some people just take a lil longer to recover.

I know that in the first few months I really had to slow down when eating, really chew through each bite and the second you start to feel a little full or have that feeling like it's still in your throat to stop...then you won't get sick. about how many bites do you take before you start feeling sick? generally, and even now (5 months later) I have about a couple bites of something and I am full (Like a cheese stick is it)

Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon!

I start feeling sick after a few bites. It feels like the food is stuck in my throat and then it comes back up. But mostly mucus not that much of the food. I hate throwing up it reminds me of morning sickness :(

Thanks :) I'm trying to. I guess I never realized how fast I was eating pre surgery.

Yup that was the same feeling I would get, take a bite and wait, then take a bite and wait...once you start to get that feeling then stop and see if you have the same issue, even if you can only get a couple of bites in you might be full...another thing is make sure you are waiting a full 40 min after eating before taking a drink, that will make you sick every time if you don't wait.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
