Hello all. I have been doing this process for longer than 6 months. Today is the day that they submitted to blue cross blue shield. She said that they are really quick with approvals. I hope that is the case for me. I was hoping for the end of october but I guess I'll wait longer lol. Any one has blue cross blue shield? How long did it take to get and answer? Also did you get approved right away?

I have BCBS of TX. The Dr's office told me 5-7 business days, and BCBS told me 10-12. I found out I was approved on Monday by calling BCBS directly. The Dr's office found out yesterday after I called and told them. I should get my date tomorrow. It took 5 business days for approval, but 7 business days for the dr's office to get it. Hope this helps.

I was told that I have to pay 640.00 to the surgon before my procedure. Do you have to pay anything? I also have to pay the hospital.

Yes, I also have to pay my deductible to the surgeon before my EGD. Then, I have to pay my part of the hospital bill up front.

I have Anthem BC/BS and was amazed that my approval came back within like 2 days. My patient advocate at the docs office called me yesterday then I got a call from my RN assigned to me from Anthem. I thought that was pretty cool.

The clinic I picked is, unfortunately, out of network so I have to pay my surgeons fees upfront ($3700) and my co-pay to the hospital ($2400'ish). But, after they file, whatever insurance pays, I keep. I expect to be out around $2500 after it's all said and done. And it's totally going to be worth it!

I should mention I've already met my $1100 deductible so that's a plus!

I was told by my surgeon's office that my insurance approval would take 3-7 days, however it was submitted on the 12 of September and I am still waiting! I've called the insurance company (BCBS of FL) a week after the submission and was told they have no record of it. Called again a week later, still nothing!

Spoke with the surgeon's office again almost 3 weeks ago and this past Tuesday, was told that they were going to check with BCBS and call me right back. I'm still waiting!

However, I did receive the surgeon's bill for the endoscopy! LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
