Why do I have no energy?

Recommended Posts

Had my first preop visit with my pcp today. Good news I am no longer taking any medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid & reflux, yeah! Right but why do I have no energy I am meeting my Water & Protein requirements taking my Vitamins & B12. Starting my soft food had 1 oz cottage cheese for lunch. I am tolerating the foods well. No vomiting & nausea. Down 30 pounds from HW today. Am I missing something?

Because your body went from having, probably, over 2000 calories a day to more like 700 now. I was wiped OUT for weeks and my recovery was very slow, so I sat on the couch A LOT. So I lost whatever muscle mass I had before, making me feel even weaker. I'm 7.5 weeks post-op and about 3 weeks ago I started walking 20 minutes 3-4 mornings a week. To build up my stamina. It's helping, but I still enjoy a nap most days. I'm also off caffeine, which was my best friend pre-surg. Keep with the Vitamins, your body will start adjusting to the new calorie intake.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
