I feel like a whiner...

Recommended Posts

So i was sleeved on 8/18, i have lost 34 lbs at my weigh in with the surgeon 9/18. Since then I have only lost 4lbs, My food plan had me on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks and then for the next 4 weeks i was on Clear liquids plus a Protein shake. A week and half ago i started full liquids (which was super excited after 6 weeks of clear liquids)

I feel like i am the only person that this is not going to work for? What am i doing wrong? I know 34 lbs is amazing...but i didnt cut out my stomach to lose 34 lbs.....I dont know. I just feel so upset right now

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or more. But don't worry -- after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. If you're interested, here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again like crazy!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

it's ok to whine here. just stick to your program and read other people's posts about stalls. it will make you feel better when you read through to the end where they say "stall ended!"

I totally know how you feel. I had surgery on 8/27 and I've lost 30lbs. I really try to actively not focus on the number. I just do what I need to do and stay away from the scale as much as I can!! Stalls are going to happen, but stressing about them does me nothing, so I think its just better to focus on making good choices as opposed to the number on the scale. The weight loss will come!!!

I've joined the whined group LOL. My initial dr visit 8/28/14 I was 223. Surgery date 9/16/14 I was 215. Today 10/9/14 I'm ONLY down 16.6. Believe me I know how it feels to be afraid that I'm going to fail at this too. I didn't go through all I've gone through for such little success. I'm on my last week of puréed foods. I'm at a loss as to what to eat anymore. I am having a very hard time reaching my daily goals. I am a self pay. Need encouragement deeply. I did this for it to work ! :-/

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
