well I can't help you with the doctors on Long Island, and I have only been banded since 4/6/07, but I do wish you all the luck in the world and welcome to the LBT site...there are so many people in here that can probably help you....they are caring people that will be glad to share any info they have...I find it such a comfort to come here and read the post..and replies....Wish I would have known about the site before I had the surgery....sure would have answered lots of questions that I had...

I used Garber, I had a beef with his office staff and there was much needed turnover. I just saw him to get back on track and I'm thrilled.

Good luck with your journey

Hi !!! I had my band done by Dr. Malhotra @ Long Island Jewish....OMG I love my Dr. he was great through the whole experience. He is very recommended and was referred to me when I was having my band done. It's been 6 months and I have lost 60 lbs so it's working. Another thing I like about him is he does the fills under floroscopy so there is no guessing about being too tight/loose. Good luck!!!

Hi Debby-- Am I reading your weight tracker right-- you gained weight? When were you banded and how did you gain weight? I did not think it was possible... if we can gain on the band then maybe I should do bypass instead? I don't mean any insult, just learning about the pros/cons of the band :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
