limbo6 23 Posted October 8, 2014 1 month out today and i'm only down 22 pounds. i lost more weight doing the beer and cigarettes diet after my divorce 15 years ago. what the hell?? i am suspecting that i am getting my period since i skipped it last month after surgery....but for as little as i am eating (probably 500 calories)....i can't believe the scale is not going faster. any words of encouragement out there?? BloomingLotus 179 Posted October 8, 2014 Only?! Don't diminish a 22lb loss! I'm pre-op right now and losing 22lbs in a month seems glorious! I know compared to some it may seem slow, but everyone's body moves at a different pace. Be proud of your loss and be assured that more is on the way! jessiquoi 623 Posted October 8, 2014 22 pounds in one month??? that sounds amazing to me! don't forget when you read posts about people losing much more than that: make sure you look at their starting weight, because the more you weigh the more you lose, but it's all proportional percentage-wise. please try not to compare yourself with anyone else, as we're all different. would you be disappointed if you read the latest best seller in 2 weeks and your friend read it in 1 week? the outcome will be the same. relax and enjoy the journey! sa1976 221 Posted October 8, 2014 I truly understand. Are you getting in your Protein and Water. That is very important. Are you exercising? Also my surgeon and nutritionist told me that people who do not have a lot to lose will lose slower than people who are more heavy. Also call your nutritionist and talk to him/her. thesuse2000 698 Posted October 8, 2014 I lost 15 pounds my first month, and a 11-12 my 2nd and 3rd. With pre-op losses down almost 70 now at almost 4 months. And I feel vey successful! And when I look at data for weight loss that verifies that indeed I am doing better than average. I'm not sure why so many people are disappointed with losses like this. I'm so thrilled with how fast I'm losing - all while not feeling deprived. I hope you can find a way to enjoy your success and stay positive for the long haul. To me, I'm mostly looking ahead to being able to maintain a loss. Yes - I've lost quickly in the past, but I've never been able to lose as much as I wanted, and was never able to keep it off. Bottom line - you're doing great! Stay positive - it will help you stay on track in the long term.
agirlnamedfrankie 69 Posted October 8, 2014 What rate of loss were you expecting/hoping for?
Jacqbult 112 Posted October 8, 2014 Think of it this way, as much as Beer and Cigs sound wonderful....this is a better way of losing and you are losing about 5 lbs of FAT every week so far, 20 pounds a month... if you keep it up at this pace you will lose you will lose 120 in six months... While your weight loss may stall, you are losing inches, and you will lose. Slower the better, less saggy skin.

limbo6 23 Posted October 8, 2014 thanks everyone. i guess i thought i would lose more...i don't know. i am not a patient person....hence...the reason why i never succeeded at weight watchers. i expect immediate results from sacrifices being made. because i eat SO little...like tablespoons of food....i thought the weight would drop off like a dead leaf. i do realize now that heavier people will lose faster. i really need to stop complaining and comparing...having a bad couple of days and maybe it is PMS time and i'm feeling blah. my clothes do feel looser, so that's a positive thing. you guys are amazing. thanks for the support. this website is the greatest! BloomingLotus 179 Posted October 8, 2014 A weight watchers leader that I loved would always spaz when people said "only" her response would be: are you closer to goal than you were last week? Last month? Last year? All those "only" losses really accumulate over time! You're doing great!
AvaFern 3,516 Posted October 8, 2014 I didn't lose 22 pounds my first month...just wait until you're really close to goal and you're lucky if you lose 5 pounds a month. That will really drive you crazy!
<3 Carolina Girl <3 84 Posted October 8, 2014 Hang in there. You're doing great. I can imagine the PMS getting the better of you. It never makes you feel good about yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped several pounds after your cycle as well. I usually fluctuate during that time and I'm still pre-op. Keep following your plan and remember ANY loss is better than a gain! Congrats on your success!
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted October 8, 2014 If it's any consolation, I'm at 5 weeks post op and I've only lost 16 pounds.
jodyjetson 72 Posted October 8, 2014 I'm with the others by saying hang in there. You might be the type who looses weight more quickly when you eat more calories. You body is in shock and scared mode. The process works. Can you imagine loosing 20 a month? I won't take too long to hit goal. Keep at it! It works I'm down 63 pounds since May
Rovobay 920 Posted October 8, 2014 @@limbo6 I am 4 weeks out and lost 24 since surgery date. 40 over all. last 10 or so days.... nothing. stalls happen too. be prepared for them. I weigh more than you so %age wise you are doing much better than I am. I am running 5k 3 times a week along with weight lifting, meticulously counting and logging my calories. As much as I had tired I have not eaten over 800 calories. Please be happy with your loss so far... it is great. @@hopeliveshere OMG 1.5 month stall 1 week post-op? I hope that is not me. wow. judging my your signature and profile info, it didn't seem to slow you down overall. great progress. you are almost to goal. great work!!!
