Recommended Posts

This weekend was my b day and yea I had Pasta. While eating I got the feelings of vomiting. I got up walked around and it went away. This was sunday. Now Everytime I eat I get that feeling and it feels like I have food in my damn throat! When will this go away? I think tomorrow im sticking to Protein Drinks and taking a break from food till my tiny tummy digest all this. :( anybody else experienced this?

How long ago was your surgery? I'm only a few weeks post op and haven't been brave enough to try Pasta or bread yet. They are both trigger foods for me so the longer I can wait, the better.

But otherwise, I haven't had issues with anything I've eaten.

I'm 6 weeks post op. I knew I would fail this weekend because of all the celebrating that was planned. I think I didn't chew good enough and ate too fast. Also Pasta is a huge no!

But celebrations will always be planned; several times a year. You have to try and find choices you can have at these eating events. If you are allowed to, bring a veggie dish. If it's at a restaurant, well, you know what to do. The different foods are not going to go away because we had surgery. We just have to make choices that will be beneficial to this new lifestyle we have voluntarily chosen. Happy birthday.

First, happy birthday! Second, I agree a day or two of liquids might not be a bad idea. Your sleeve is not healed yet and won't be completely for some time. It can easily get irritated. Pasta and rice can be especially rough because they can swell in your stomach. Thirdly, I would just echo what someone else said. One big thing is learning to Celebrate things within the guidelines of what you need to do for the first year post-op nutrition-wise. It's big in our culture to equate celebrating with food splurges. It's a totally change of mind set to switch that off. Good luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
