Try the My Fitness Pal app. It works great for logging your foods. You can set it for the amounts/limits of Protein, days and carbs that your doc and NUT set for you. Mine is 60 grams of Protein, 30 grams of fats, and 100 grams of carbs per day. I also keep track of weight, daily Vitamins, exercise etc. The app can be used on your computer or phone. It's been a lifesaver for me. I feel like it keeps me accountable for what I eat. It has most foods on it already, and you can also input your own recipes.

I don't count calories anymore, I just track Protein right now. Am trying to figure out how to track carbs but haven't been as successful, though I try to stay away from them as much as possible. I'll have a bit of carbs when I can but I haven't quite figured that all out yet.

I'm diabetic Si I have to kinda stat away from carbs if I want to stay insulin free. And I remember them saying you have to get so many calories in order for you to lose wright properly. I know I'm not getting enough Protein but I refuse to use that nasty powder or pay for those expensive drinks other people are buying. I've been making homemade chicken salad and eating two or three spoonfuls on a piece of lettuce for lunch. Then a glass of milk. I get my protein from that and an egg and slim fast.

MyFitnessPal is great for tracking calories, fat, Protein, ect. My doc doesn't really want me counting calories, but I have to, to keep myself accountable. I'm 7 months out and could eat just about anything. It keeps me on track!

Look up myfitnesspal.com. The app on iPad is a blue square with a white outline of a person jumping.

I agree, My Fitness Pal is great! If you log on through a computer, you can change your daily goals to help keep you on track. I also purchased a Fitbit and have it linked to MFP.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
