Does Ensure = Clear Liquid?

Recommended Posts

I was trying to find something different to eat as part of my clear liquid diet. I saw on one site that lactose-free supplements are okay for a clear liquid diet -- is this true? Because I'd welcome the addition.

Thanks

:rolleyes

I was told that ensure wasn't part of the liquid diet at all due to the calories in it. Have you checked for clear Liquid Protein? www.vitaminshoppe.com has several to choose from. ~Mandy

i'm checking now for the clear liq Proteins -- so Isopure would count? Not that I could finish a whole bottle in a day ...but it would be a refreshing change from the norm...

My doc told me if you have a glass full of the liquid and you can see the bottom of the glass it qualifies as clear liquid.

So broth, Isopure, crystal light...

Ensure does not = clear liquid.....to be considered clear liquid, you have to be able to see through it in a glass. coffee, broth, Jello, pedialyte, juice (except orange, grape, or punch) etc.

Milk based liquids, Ensure, Boost, cream based Soups are all considered "Full Liquid" diets

I've used some of the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury brand Protein powders and they are pretty good. Since I am on their mailing list they send me info from time to time. Recently I got an e-mail about a new product. Unjury Update: Liquid Proteins in Test Tubes

They say it's really great nutritionally. I have not tried it. It might be something to check out since you are looking into liquid Proteins. In general Unjury does make some quality Protein products.

And of course, I'm not associated with the company at all. Just passing this along.

My discharge papers from my doctor says for weeks 1-2 Clear Liquids. However, it also says that I can have Ensure, Boost and Carnation Instant Breakfast. My doctor wants to make sure that I still have an intake of calories. I have a Carnation for Breakfast, Ensure for lunch and broth for dinner. I also drink Propel during the day. I think all doctors are different in what they want their patients to do.

I just found a website that says that grape juice and cranberry juice both count as Clear Liquids because they have no pulp. If you Water them down, you can see through it. My doctor didn't specify particular types, but I have seen that some people say that you can't have red stuff. I hope I can because all I bought for these two days was grape juice, pomegranant (sp) juice and cranberry juice. General consensus?

My doctor didn't say anything against red. Your best answer though is to ask your doctor. That way, you are following his orders.

Something else, it might be better to post your question in a separate thread. That way your question stands out. Good luck!

Interesting about Fluid being red not counting as clear. This is the first I heard of that. I learn something new on this forum every day. Anyway, your best bet is to ask your doctor. They will provide clarity in this matter.

As far as my doctor, I could have any color Fluid if I could see through it. I could have juice too, but my doctor highly recommended that I Water it down.

Thus, I purchased the Isopure Protein drinks that come in various fruity flavors. To me they taste good and filled me up, plus helped me with my fluid and Protein intake.

But again, ask your doctor.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
