Isopure clear protein drinks

Recommended Posts

I went to Hi-Health yesterday to get a couple of bottles to see if I liked any of the flavors. They only had the powder jugs ($40 each on sale) and the 20oz glass bottles ($4 each). I tried the blue raspberry, but holy cow was that sweet! Tasted like the blue Syrup they use on snow cones. It wasn't terrible, but I couldn't finish the full 20 oz. I know they sell 8oz plastic bottles too. I'll be getting those online if I can find a flavor that is calmer. Has anyone else tried them yet? Even drinking half of it, I still got 20 grams of Protein, so that's good I guess. :)

I like the red flavor. The grape tastes like smelly feet.

I have yet to find any supplements that taste like the flavor or the picture on the label........drink or power bar.

That being said, I do use the Quest bars (mostly cookies-n-cream) and the Isopure drinks (glass bottles). I primarily use the drinks when I go to the gym and put them in my Water bottle with alot of ice. I'm usually so thirsty, I guzzle them without paying much attention to the taste. Still there are only a few I can tolerate. The Apple melon, the fruit punch, etc. You'll just have to try each flavor. Sometimes I just have to cut them 50% with Water which helps with the taste. As you said, it's still 20 grams of Protein, which is great. ;)

They only make the 4oz plastic bottles in a couple of flavors. Alpine Punch is one and it isn't bad...has more tart to it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
