I'm still a newb at 2 weeks out, but I'm wondering, just how much can you eat later on? Say 3, 6, 9, and 12 months? I know when I took a few nibbles of scrambled eggs, I thought to myself "hmm I better not do anymore" I think I'm too scared to try and eat more if that makes sense. I don't want a leak or any other issue.

What I can eat has really varied a lot. At 3 months post-op for me, it was Christmas, and my stomach was largely cooperative with small amounts of chocolate, cake, Desserts, and the vast majority of foods as long as they were not fried. In January, I cut out all of the bad foods, so at around March I was eating anything I wanted, but it was always healthy. At six months, which was June-July ish, I could tolerate small amounts of dessert, and the majority of other food, as long as I was careful with how much I ate. Really, a few bites of anything is more than enough to satisfy me now. I am now at 13 months and I've been stuck wearing a compression garment because I had plastics 6 weeks ago, so 75% of everything is making me sick. Overall though, right before my last surgery and before the compression garment issue, I could eat in very small quantities pretty much anything, which is reassuring because you can go back to enjoying the foods you like, you just only have a few bites and you're full.

I was on only on liquid for first week then I can only eat eggs low fat Greek yogurt low fat pudding low fat cottage cheese and refried Beans. This is week 2 and 3. Then I can have soft foods week 3 thru 6 and then you start back on solid foods slowley. I three weeks out and have lost 30 pounds yea!!!_!!

I am 3 months out. I might reply to what I can't eat. I can eat most things. Depending on the day I have found a lot of variation, and something that was fine yesterday causes some discomfort the next day. It is very individualized. I cannot tolerate eggs, and for awhile milk and dairy products in general were a no-no. But 95% of the time I can eat what makes sense from a nutritional point of view and be fine.

I think she was wondering about the amount of food, as in size of portions, and not so much about the type of foods?

Correct me if I am wrong though. :)

I'm almost 9 months out. There are still some foods I can not tolerate. Pork is really hard for me to eat. For the most part I can eat almost anything, just in very small portions. I have not tried rice, Pasta or breads. I have decided to stay away from those. I am usually full in 3-4 bites.

I am nine months out and eating what I want. However, what I want has changed from the pre-op me. I do not want junk and sweets. I do not miss dessert. If I have to have something, I go for an apple instead of apple pie. I might have a small potato twice a month, but not mashed potatoes nearly every day. I eat an ounce of colby jack instead of a double grilled cheese. If I have chili, I may sprinkle 1/4 ounce of shredded cheddar, but I will pass on the crackers or macaroni (my people call that "chili-mac soup") I may have a banana instead of a banana split.

So, there you have it. I still weigh and measure everything. My tummy capacity has gone from 1/4 cup and two tablespoons to 3/4 cup. I still eat slow and take small bites. If I do not track I lose track.

I am almost 4 weeks out. I eat usually about 1/4 cup of soft mushies. If it is Soup, I can usually get in a little bit more than a 1/4 cup, unless there are chunks in it. Eating hasn't been the easiest. shakes don't bother me at all. I used to drink at least one a day even prior to surgery for several years. I'm having to constantly remind myself to eat at the times my kids eat, since I don't feel hungry. They have helped a lot since they are like little alarm clocks when it comes to eating. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. Usually I have a sugar free popsicle in the evening as a treat.

I'm two months out and everything I have eaten has been tolerated if that helps. I can eat about a cup of food at a sitting if it is not dense food (like chicken or turkey).

I have not yet tried steak - not quite ready for that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
